Any idea on Barkate’s ….

Not sure you can actually say this… but I think we have too many WRs and not enough balls! Moore/Upshaw are ready to take next step. You’ve got Wingo who is looking like he’s going to need to be on the field. Three new veteran/proven transfers. Then 3 very high potential freshman other than Wingo. Oh my!
 
some of you guys are way too sensitive. not a single poster has dogged him, it was a simple question.

we all know a 40 time doesnt define a wr. we all know what his stats are.

if he gets out in the open(which he will plenty), is he likely outrunning everyone else on the field or not? thats the question.

I think the smart move is to have a completely different offensive philosophy in 2026. Adapt to your personnel , not the other way around.

base offense should be RPO with 20 personnel. Use a lot of situational uptempo. Speed guys will need to rotate a lot as they will run lots of deep routes to keep the safeties back.

Toney and Barkate will generally play the most snaps at wr but there will be still be lots of snaps for Wingo,Upshaw, and Moore.

Against teams with elite run defenses, 10 personnel and used like the Ole **** offense will drive them nuts.

My one demented suggestion- do what the Eagles did and bring in a rugby specialist like Richie Gray to teach the tush push mechanics to the Miami OL this offseason. Our own former OL coach, Jeff Stoutland, came up with that idea in Philly.

With Mensah and 20 personnel (esp Brown and Fletcher in backfield) it would be virtually unstoppable in short yardage situations. Cristobal gets the best of all worlds- an explosive offense but near 100% success rate in short yardage through raw power and technique.
 
Didn't look fast to me in his Duke highlights but doesn't mean he isn't good. People get in their feelings feeling if you ask about a 40 time even though lack of speed at WR was somewhat of an issue this year (if you had to nitpick)

Yeah with the OL I am not as concerned as others because Mensah has some good ability in the pocket to escape sacks, much better than Beck, no one will be able to convince me 2025 Duke OL is better than whatever Miami rolls out in 2026.

My concern is Dawson and the run game. We had legit maulers last year. Bell was a stone wall, Cici was a true road grader in the run game, Samson was collapsing entire sides of a line, Coop was actually hit or miss this year for me but when he was on he was nasty. I dont think this incoming group can be relied on like that, we need some more creativity there.
 
The most important thing is getting a QB that can hit the WRs downfield. If you have a good QB, the WRs don't need to be 5 yards past the CB. We have plenty of speed at WR now. We had enough last year, but Beck couldn't hit it to save his life. I saw WRs open downfield more times than I can count, and he either didn't see them, or didn't trust his arm to get it there. Mensah won't have that issue, AND we brought in some speedy guys.

Moore will take a giant step next season with Mensah.

Defenses won’t be able to stack the box this year, double team Toney and be able to leave their CB’s on an island with CJ and Marion.

This will open up the run game.

We're such a stupid fanbase, that we focus more on a player's athletic profile, than how he actually plays the game 🤦‍♂️

Yes, physical attributes matter, but in isolation they don't determine whether a player is going to be successful. Intangibles & how intrinsically motivated a player is in the pursuit towards competitive excellence matters just as much if not more. Some of the greatest players in this program's history did not possess an elite athletic profile, but when they strapped it up, & stepped foot on the gridiron, they found a way to get the job done & perform at the highest level. Conversely, this program's graveyard is also littered with busts & jags who didn't amount to anything, despite being given elite physical attributes from god.

After transferring to MIA, Barkate immediately becomes one of the most fundamentally sound WRs this program has had in over 2 decades. Aside from already developing a rapport with the starting QB, this is going to be the main reason why he'll be successful this upcoming season; irrespective of what his 40 time may be. Another fundamentally sound WR that played for this program within the last 2 decades was KJ Osborn & unsurprisingly he's still in the NFL despite being a 5th rd draft pick.

What does Puka run? Either surprising speed or DBs are slow. Gets behind them & catches everything,

Let’s hope our idiot oc figures out away to use him and the rest of our talent at wr before he caused them to portal out . Hes to fast not to have some kind of speed package on the field all at once . Defense finds ways to use all our talent only one who doesn’t is short bus Dawson . Yeah he cost us all 3 of our losses this year . Let that sink in prior to coming at me for stating the weak link on our team
