Anonymous former Cane on Coaches, Players

Was the first half of the FSU game a hint of what this team could/should look like?

Nah, everybody played like that against fsu in the first half. Even the Gaytors

Yeah but there was a clear difference in strategy between the first and second half.

If our coaches had the cut-throat mentality would our team play like they did in the 1st half? (every game)

It’s my responsibility. I didn’t manage it well enough to get our team ready to play the game, and our team chemistry wasn’t what it needed to be, and that’s all my responsibility.”

The above quote is from the guy who is among the best to ever coach college football. And according to him, it's his responsibility to handle team chemistry.

This is another quote from an SEC coach about the significant role the HC plays in recruiting his own team:

“You have to recruit the player that fits your program,” said Bielema. “I’m not going to go after these guys… I learned a long time ago [former Iowa head] coach [Hayden] Fry used to say all the time, ‘you recruit your own problems.’

If you want to play for Bret Bielema, mind your Twitter p?s and q?s | CollegeFootballTalk

Nothing earth shattering from Bielema, but I think it contradicts what the anonymous player and McDermott are quoted as saying.

IMO ... In year 5, if the team chemistry is still bad or the team still doesn't have enough players with talent AND the right character ... It's 100% on the coaches.

Also ... Just because our HC was able to convince some players that it was "the other guys on the team" who caused the team's mediocre results on the field doesn't make it accurate.

But I can see how that sentiment might lead to some chemistry issues ...

Lil Nicky is actually an overall bad example for what you're trying to say. He deflects responsibility like a champ. From saying that his team lost because they had treated a non-NCG bowl game like a conciliation game to now at $EC media days blaming the timing of NFL draft grades for distracting/de-motivating his guys before Urb smacked Alabamy around, he's a ***** and only comes off as taking responsibility when things are bad when he's allowed to deliver a pre-written soliloquy. The Little One gets reallllllll defensive and the excuses start to flow when anyone from outside his local shill media actually asks him a real question.

An anonymous former Cane put the vast majority of the blame on the players. Who would know better than a guy who was actually in the room? The players need to make plays. The coaches can't do it for them.

Funny, because he placed blame on the players and then gave a lot of reason why the coaches are at fault for all of the dissent. See my post on page 4. Everything he said was wrong with the coaches is exactly why the players (especially the older ones) jump off the wagon.

Do you expect a recent player to put the vast majority of blame on the coaches?

Personally, I don't care what he said to the media cause I know what's being said/thought behind closed doors.

I take that with a grain of salt because there was no name given out. Like Herm Edwards said "put your name on it". If you got the balls to call someone out you better have the balls to put your name out there

shane's a company guy. last year during training camp he was saying what different team this was and the attitude was different. blah, blah, blah.

players didnt lose the FSU game. golden pulling his punches did. like i always say. he's like the boxer who just wants to win on points and is afraid to let his hands go.

This defense is nothing like Seattle's. Seattle does not run any 2-gap anymore. They never play with a three man line. They rarely ever blitz. They show press almost the entire game, and play with an 8 man box the entire game. Their LBs are speed based, and they play Nickel a lot. Oh and they use the Over-front--aka the old Miami D-line alignment--more than any other front.

Norm Parker:

One other thing, don't force your kids to get along and play nice. Don't expect everyone to like each other. That isn't important. Some are big, some little, some fast, some slow - that's life. The thing is to look past the person and see the one thing that matters - the single common denominator - TOUGHNESS.

Each player should ask of another, "Do you respect his toughness"? This attitude or swagger is one that resonates, "If you're not tough enough, you're not one of us" that quickly weeds out non-performers and continually raises the expectations of the unit.

"If the offensive players were any good, they'd be playing defense WITH US!"

Kinda funny. Players have personally told me the opposite. And, for those who are skeptical, I stated as such on here before things got really bad. When most on here still wanted Golden and he was dubbed "The Don." I'm not saying it's 100% coaches. I'm saying that article reads like a PR piece.

One don't need to read anything but watch the games. It was play calling in that was just down right ridiculous. Again, when was the last time an opponent offense lined up and had to call timeout because they knew they could not execute against our defense. Third and 7 against the running heavy GT and we have our best pass rusher covering a running back out of the back field and our best coverage guy rushing the passer!!! How many 3 man fronts in base defense against a rushing heavy team on 3/4 and short distance.

Former Hurricanes center Shane McDermott, now with the Dallas Cowboys, said Thursday on FM 104.3 The Ticket that the team’s underachieving came from its selfishness.
“Oh, I definitely think that we had some bad blood in our organization, that felt entitled,” said McDermott, a Palm Beach Central alum. “I think we had a lot of selfishness that we needed to get rid of.
“From what I hear from my little brother (Kc, a sophomore offensive tackle), the team is tighter than ever this year. I went down there last weekend and watched one of their offseason workouts. There was no bickering at each other. There was no fighting. It was a really tight-knit group. Everyone was working hard. It’s been the hardest I’ve seen them work in a while.”
McDermott on the defense: “It was an NFL defense. I understood what the coaches were trying to do. They were trying to say, hey, this is what you’re going to be playing in about four years. We’re just trying to get you there … If I was a defensive player, that would have been nice. … We’ve had former players come back to Miami and say hey, this is exactly what we run in the NFL … Players need to study more and understand the defense more … It’s interesting. Maybe dumbing down the defense would help. Who knows.”

So.................in the NFL they run a three-man line on fourth and goal at the two with the LB eight yards back? Interesting.

Exactly.

Also with both safeties deep.

Lol, too funny.

Where did Al Golden go after the season?
Where is McDermott?
If McDermott is smart, on the bubble, and trying to make the NFL, what should he say?

I'm not saying McDermott is lying or anything, but bias could be there.

It goes both ways. Golden went soft as my girls *****, but he also didnt fumble twice, throw an int on our last drive, bat the ball right to karlos williams, or miss a tackle on dalvin cook in the hole then let him run 40 yrds for the game winning score....
