Anonymous ACC coach slandering UM

we can win with mannys defense in todays game. when manny stepped in early in season it improved. we have never seen his defense with an offense than can move the ball and give the offense good first position except maybe richt's first year. im not defending him but if licoln riley had his defense, he probably comes closer to a chip

No but we have seen his defense versus an offense with a pulse...and it usually ain't pretty.

This coach seems to think Lashlee’s previous o line is better than his current. Uh oh...

never said it was. to me at times it looks like someone playing madden and just blitzing but in todays game, its good enough to win if the offense is high powered.

Don’t do that. You can’t speak any truth here. Miami’s Defense is an elite Defense! So what we struggle with anyone with a pulse? It’s obviously the Offense’s fault.
Definitely the offense's fault that Wisconsin shoved the ball down our throat 2 years in a row using the same exact plays.
Or multiple mediocre QB's having a career day.

Taylor had his third worst YPC of the season against us in the OB

We lost Wisconsin the first time because Hornibrook couldn’t miss a pass and Rosier was terrible not because they ran the ball down our throats

At the Pinstripe Bowl Wisconsin had 21 points through 3Q, our offense the entire game had 160 yards, 60 of them on 1 rosier run, but Wisconsin did run itdown our throats in the4th

And his example still holds true, this defense for all its faults even in the Wisconsin games did enough for us to win with a good offense

Obly Ames we had no chance from recent memory was the Clemson game in 2017, VT in 2016, even last year we probably win with a offense that doesn’t give VT the ball 4x in the first half

Well this is proof college football coaches aren’t always the brightest bulbs in the pack.

The OL gave up 9 sacks vs. UF 1st game, but after some changes absolutely got better by conference play. On road they gave up 4 sacks to UNC, but had almost 500 yards of offense vs. a very aggressive defensive scheme.

Pittsburgh was one of the best DL’s we played and we gave up 2-3 sacks on road to them.

the OL didn’t look absolutely atrocious again until Duke, and that’s when we lost like 3-4 starters and had to play players who shouldn’t have been playing.

Also this dullard sounds little scared at the Lashlee/ King combo saying Lashlee will need to change his scheme. Hey moron, the scheme he runs gets the ball out much quicker and is uptempo so to gas the DL so they aren’t as rested to rush the passer.
dang ...your post makes me think we had a winning season.

Most of the whole team (save for the defense) is a wild card and should just be better by just showing up. All these articles about our faults are spot on but that is not the same team/staff we're rolling out this season so it's all moot.

Defense has always done enough to win games and many times more than enough even with their 4th and 17 **** the bed plays that don't materialize if the offense scores points and changes the game.

I can't wait to see what we put on the field this season.

Even with 4th and 17 we should have beaten UNC

Quote from anonymous ACC coach. Article from Athlon.

“They really looked embarrassing at times last season. Losing to that Georgia Tech team is inexcusable…They’re still super talented on defense because they’re still Miami. I think Manny Diaz got caught trying to be too smart a few times. Like, with those athletes, why are you overthinking this thing? Just go play man coverage! Go let them loose…They looked so bad in the bowl game on offense. They gave up and didn’t care at all. You saw it on the tape. That’s a case of them not being as good as they think they are. The offensive line was embarrassing against Florida, and then they got worse because they didn’t scheme to help themselves. By the time they got to conference play, you kept thinking they’d change things up to bail out the line. They didn’t…D’Eriq King is a freak show player but he can’t be the sole threat. If Rhett Lashlee runs what he has at his previous places, they’re gonna get him killed without some help. They could be all over the portal again this summer…This program needs to get serious about itself. They’re out in recruiting talking about the swag and smoke like it wasn’t 30 years ago…I think you’re going to find out really fast if this regime is going to work out. They could end up a mess just like Florida State last season.”
That’s pretty much the consensus view of this board. It’s not ’bad mouthing.’ It’s realism. Hopefully it’ll work out, but cannot refute amt of that.

Well, Fuentes did not own Diaz. If Baxa makes a flipping extra point, we win. Never seen anything take the life out of a team or a stadium after that miss. The team clawed back from a 28-0 deficit only to watch a kid miss an extra point.

He owned our Defense. Weak sauce blaming a extra point for allowing VT drive down the field at ease the following drive. Just toying with our Defense and stupid blitz schemes. Owned!

Were you in the stadium? Never felt anything like the instant momentum killer. Tech had 335 yards in total offense. On that last series we had two blown coverages. The go to Hazleton and the crossing to Keene. You can argue that Keene was open because we blitz it was a blown coverage. We turned the ball over 5 times because Williams was embarrassingly bad.

Oh that's right, I remember letting a guy named HORNIBROOK look like Dan fvckin' Marino.

That's your rebuttal? C'MON MANE!!! :monkey-serious:
That's even worse than letting them run the ball down our throat, at least Wisky is known for being good at that.
So what you're telling me is that we let them beat us doing something that they don't even do well? That's way worse than my original accusation.

In one match-up versus Wisky we allowed a scrub QB to throw the ball all over us and a true Freshman WR to look like Megatron.
In the other game we allowed 333 yards rushing for 5.7 yards per carry.
TRANSLATION - We got owned 2 years in a row by the same opponent... who had significantly less talent than us.

Western Kentucky
BYU
Iowa
Michigan
Northwestern
Penn State
Rutgers
Minnesota

Those are the list of defensive juggernauts that were able to hold Wisconsin under 35 points in 2018.

And in 2017...

FAU
Northwestern
Purdue
Illinois
Michigan
Minnesota
Ohio State

...all kept Wisconsin under 34 points.

And that's the year we allowed 21 unanswered points in the 2nd quarter after going up 14-3 in the 1st.
I guess our defense was already worn out by the 2nd quarter.
