An overlooked improvement

We’re right about that point in the season where people start to trash Fletcher and proclaim someone else the best back on the team (two years ago it was Lyle, last year Pringle) Come the end of the year when the games really matter and Fletcher actually starts getting second half carries against tired defenses, we will forget all about this thread.
Fully disagree. Mallory's success has nothing to do with the last few freshman backs. Lyle had speed and power. Pringle has quickness and agility. Mallory has VISION. We haven't had a back with legit vision since Duke. It is clear he is so much more comfortable than any back on the team finding the hole instinctively. He is the best back on the team and it won't be close as the season goes on. At that position you can't teach vision.

Btw this kid Keys coming in is the same way. Running back room is getting back to the old days.

One area thats needed is Mensah taking the quick passes for first downs and for just taking off picking up a few yards

Just avoid a negative play

FWIW we allowed 3 negative plays the whole night, per the stats. But I really only remember one.

1 sack against Mensah.

We had a couple carries for no gain, but I don't remember a single other play that lost yardage.

Having Fletcher starting (and with arguably the greatest attitude on the team and best leader)
Mallory as a back up
Lyle as the 3rd back
Pringle 4th
CWH 5th

This is an unfair stable to RB’s. Our 3rd and 4th would start for likely half the P4 teams. This is awesome, especially in today’s world of college sports.

Stupidest comparison possible.
We had the easiest opening stretch we've had in years.
We have a far superior QB and WRs and pass game this yr so OF COURSE the run game is opening more
Our Run game last yr before Pringle and then playoffs was ******* absolute dog**** cause we literally did nothing but run up the middle.
Anyone that believe our Run blocking purely from our OLine this yr is superior to last season is full of ****.

Rb1 - Fletcher
Rb2 - Mallory

RB3a - Pringle (needs significantly more reps in pass situations, every other RB is a liability in this department)
Rb3b - Lyle

Rb5 - CWH

Anyone saying different is funny.

2025 (pic 1) looks a lot like 2026 (pic 2)

28 points in regulation and I really dislike our pass blocking, especially on the right side of the line.

This is twice where Mensah looked rattled (Wake & FSU). This past week, just bad all the way around until Q4.

Are they really satisfied with that side of the line? It seems we are collapsing on that side forcing Mensah to his left and thus, struggling to throw against his body.

What has the re-watch or all 22 show?
I also didn't like all the smiling Mensah was doing on the sidelines when we were down! I am all for calm and cool, but let's be honest he was very lucky two times when he should have been picked off, and one would have been a pick 6

Shocked you don't have Pringle starting over everyone.

Running game getting better but we certainly not a we can always pick up a 3rd and 1 by running straight ahead and moving the pile.

I'm more concerned about pass protection. PFF says we gave up 14 pressures and only 2 of those came from up the middle. I haven't bothered to rewatch and count but my eyes (and I'm afraid also Mensah's) see a lot more up the middle pressure. Am I just paranoid about that given our guard challenges or is PFF full of crap about this as it is a lot of other things?

Last years rushing struggles early on last year after what we did in '24 was a total head scratcher outside of Martinez leaving.

You keep saying that as if I've ever said he should start over Fletcher since playoffs began last yr.

Lyle has yet to prove a single thing. Idk if you've noticed but everyone was *****ing and moaning about Mensah not taking dump off passes to our RB - who btw went on routes like 85% of pass plays! (So much for needing such excellent pass blocking!)... Do you think Pringle is perfect for that or no? This **** is simple and people try to complicate it. Pringle is significantly more proven than Lyle and it's not close. Mallory has earned the RB2 role. But we need to put Pringle in more. But I'm not surprised we don't staff plays favorites constantly. That's why no LBs ever get any burn when we know how large of liability these 2 are in coverage and our coverage has struggled mightily.

Lol… I like Pringle and hopes he sticks around. But this dude is not that significantly better off of 8 catches because he busted a long one or two, nor are the others liabilities

Do you have a ******* clue about what you are talking about? Ever?
