I think you are right about that (i.e., entering the portal by May 1 is enough). From the NCAA website:

"Additionally, a student-athlete must provide their current school with a written request to enter the NCAA Transfer by May 1 if they participate in a fall or winter sport, or July 1 if they participate in a spring sport to use the one-time exception. Other rules (e.g., disciplinary suspension at the previous school, transferable credits accepted by your new school, sport specific midyear transfer rules) may also factor into the campus compliance administrator’s certification of transfer eligibility."

On a separate (but related) note, if the hints about "other issues" slowing down the Jacksonville State transfer, I'd be willing to bet that he has a pending disciplinary issue at Jacksonville State that will be resolved in the near future.
Isn’t it February for fall sports with the Sec ? You must be in the portal by then to transfer inside the conference? That’s why the sec Is out of the question.

I dont see how FSU makes sense..they have a lame duck staff its a matter of time before they are canned..

They all just got extended. They make sense because the kid can play there immediately, and that’s what he wants. That’s why he’s leaving UGA. He also has a close relationship with their OC/OL coach.

Thankfully it makes more sense for him to come here instead. Let’s see if he makes the right decision.

Just posted this earlier, but I wanted you to see it. On the DE, are you talking about the Jacksonville State kid? Might be a pending disciplinary action, see below:

I'm so confused...Mims literally puts on his IG FSU is full of poors, and you guys get less confident?!?

I mean I took a break for a couple months...**** it's good to be back

Wait, did Mims retweet Brownlee's slightly older tweet? I just thought it was a Photoshop joke, but if Mims posted that...

Yeah it seems edited now hahaha I got too excited...still rolling it though - I mean it's more of a valid statement than their spew regarding our IPF or the state of their football team in general.

Call it a white lie.

We get Mims and we are a real threat against ATM in College Station. Our offense will have few week spots (WR will need to have a couple of guys step up as leaders but we should be all good). We can have a run game again and we obviously know what we have for the passing game. Gattis can start implementing his offense immediately.

Our defense still needs to show but indications are the line is improving and the only place we are truly weak (besides depth) is in the LB space.

His transfer changes our trajectory. We legitimately could win the ACCCG and be in a New Years 6 game. It also gets the recruiting game plan on pace and with a strong winning season, gets 2024 in shape too with lesser efforts.

I would throw the NIL brinks truck at this kid given what it can do for us as far as immediate returns are concerned.
Need to pull Dorlous too! Successful 1st season for Mario will do wonders for recruiting. Lets put this turnaround on the fast track

Nothing would make me happier than to see him and Flowe hit the portal. If he does, I would bet dollars to donuts that we have the best shot to land him (Dorlus that is). But it’s on him to make the first move.

When is Oregon’s spring game?
