Alonzo Highsmith the answer?

I don’t know if he’s the answer BUT I would ask somebody like Bryan Maggard from Louisiana University. He’s the guy that hired Billy Napier and made a homerun Baseball hire in Matt Deggs from Sam Houston State. Young guy who’s proven he can hire.
As a Lafayette, la native I would fully support this.

I know there's a lot of chatter about Zo, and almost happened as football 'GM'. Could work.

How about this former player for AD?

This will be a great choice too!

Money talks. Ask Dwayne to make one extra ****** movie per year and donate that $20M to the football program for coaching and AD salaries.

Otherwise we're the type of team to get blown out by Bama, struggle against App St. and lose to a mediocre Mich. St. team.
They will take it and give it to the Marine Biology program before football 😂😂

You can hire whoever you want to but it still ain't gonna matter without dropping some serious bags on recruits, something everybody knows we're unable to do without the federal government coming after us, much less the ncaa!

It's almost like our fanbase is incapable of an original, rational thought. Dan Morgan hasn't worked in an athletic department his entire adult life. His playing accolades MEAN NOTHING IN REGARDS TO HIS ABILITY TO BE A SUCCESSFUL AD.

Again, Dan Morgan is an NFL personnel guy. He has never had to deal with coaching talent acquisition, he has never dealt with booster and marketing management.

Highsmith doesn't know anything about running an athletic department. Hire a competent athletic director. Highsmith should be something of a football czar. Football if your money maker and what funds the athletic department.
A good AD doesn't need a football czar, he hires a good HC and gets the F out of their way. Stop adding bureaucracy to what should be a simple straight line organizational chart. The best coaching jobs are the ones where there aren't layers between the HC and their boss.

Here's a thought. Let's take a look at the hiring practices of winning schools. What are the qualifications looked for in an Athletic Director by: Bama, Clemson, Georgia, OU, OSU, etc.

Maybe then we can get out of this rut.

Is he related to Dave Maggard?

I know who Dan Morgan is, what he has and hasn't done, and what an AD job is.

How about Mack Rhoades, Baylor?

Got names for AD?

No? Go **** yourself.

NCAA is defunct. Not something to worry about anymore. Only thing that matters is the conference commish, he'd ignore cheating if we win because it means money in his pocket.

Not a good model, it doesn't take any level of greatness to succeed at those schools. Basically, those ADs are just the adults in charge. Ohio State is a perfect example. They haven't had an objective failure of a hire in decades for football. Why? Because that organization is so well funded, with such long standing relationships, that **** near anyone can succeed there provided they let the machinery run.

Miami needs to look at the schools that are succeeding despite their limitations, there's where you'll find the kind of forward thinking leaders that can succeed in Coral Gables. Miami isn't an easy job, it requires the kind of leader that can navigate the unique challenges.

So you want to replace someone who had never been an AD of a major D-1 program with someone who's never been an AD before? Brilliant!
Highsmith knows football inside and out from a variety of levels..... find a sharp assistant AD to help with details and it can work
JZ do you really want Blake James making any more period.... what we're doing is not working that's for sure 15+ years

Would be shocked if he came off his current path. He'll be an NFL GM by the time he's 45.

Yes, just threw his name out there as a former player with accomplishments off-the-field. He'll be an NFL GM soon enough.
