ALONZO HIGHSMITH AIN'T SCARED...

All for the Zo doing what he is doing but I dont think Miami has people give money to the athletic department like Baylor and TCU. So the comparison is apple to oranges

We will never get there with attitudes like this. That old cliche "the thousand mile journey begins with a single step" applies nicely to what Zo is attempting here.

Whenever this officially gets off the ground, my HC dues are going directly into it. Not a chance I am directly giving UM a dime until I am convinced we're heading in the right direction, and have a clear plan of attack.

That's the point of this cmike. Unfortunately it might take a former player instead of the current admin to get this rolling but we gotta figure out a way to help the program we love get back to the top.

Brett Romberg said this morning that Zo's goal is to raise $25MM...

Joaquin Gonzalez should be a leader in this. Not going to put his family business completely out there, but let's say that they're suddenly in a very, very good spot financially.

I'll give half of my savings for an indoor facility do we need it no but it would sure impress the recruits. Stop talking and do this **** like now could you imagine having butch come back with this indoor facility as another selling point. Come on all the smarts alumni boosters etc somebody make this dream come true

It's very shrewd. He's not criticizing, pick for or against anyone in particular but rather wants to support the program and has found an actionable way for people to get involved, to make things happen, and not step on toes. I really (!) like it.

Highsmith for AD. Should just let the former players run the athletic department. They'd take better care of it than anyone else.

I agree but make no mistake, he is stepping on toes.

Good.

The admin/BOT don't give a **** about the football program. Former players see it and they're doing something about it.

A ******* shame the disrespect this proud program gets.

Maybe he could get some money from the dozens and dozens of millionaire players who have never donated a dime back to the university.

We should start the Canesinsight fund to contribute similar to what we did for Cmar and send the funds to Zo.

25 million is a **** ton of money, but its not stadium money. If gets ten, it would be awesome. I plan to donate to this fund, but a g or 2 is the most I've got for stuff like this.

The Schwartz family coughed up $5 mil and we'll be hearing about that for about the next 20 years. Thr Little Troll Queen recently stated (incredibly) that the reason Tropical Park never materialized was because Big Brother FIU wouldn't come on board. If that's true and was the only roadblock then one can realistically envision a scenario where this happens (with a new president in place that actually wants to truly support the program):

-Zo raises the money and several high profile alumni make themselves the face of the effort thus getting a lot of exposure

-Said exposure prompts some local politicians to try to glom some spotlight and they make it known that the county would be open to discussing the land

-$25 mil banked and a potential land deal makes up for whatever FIU was previously hoped to bring and forces the new admin's hand to realistically explore making it happen.

I love Zo's idea and will support it but as much effort and pressure needs to be applied to the county in relation to that land once real $ start to be raised.
