Friend, compadre, mi amigo;
I like to speak from an intelligent standpoint v. an emotional & illogical pov. Two yrs ago, we saw a group of militants storm The Capital in the hopes of catching politicians who were in opposition of The POTUS, w/ the intent to inflict bodily harm. They broke through barricades, broke windows, doors, ignoring secular authorities, & the intent was to disrupt the democracy. Yet, that’s called a “dust up.”
OK, on the other hand, we have a QB who’s tired of convoluted laws that don’t protect ppl like me. U wanna know how many times I’ve been pulled over in my city just for driving a nice car? W/e u guess, it’s too low. U wanna know how often LA Co. Sheriffs have pulled a gun on me b/c I fit a description or left a girl’s house in a certain neighborhood? Whatever # u have in ur head, it’s too low. I’ve had my neighbor’s autistic son get brutalized & murdered by Compton Police (which is y they don’t exist anymore) in front of her home, all b/c he was outside naked, incoherent b/c he wasn’t on his meds.
That’s reality, champ, & it’s hard for many to fathom that in the land of the free, ppl of certain color & ethnic backgrounds get treated as second class citizens. That’s what the kneel was for; it wasn’t to disrespect a lot of great qualities The U.S have to offer, but to accentuate a time for a change. How can u pledge an allegiance to a system that’s broken? That’s what Kaep was saying; and, since he initially was sitting on a bench, a Green Beret told him to kneel instead b/c sitting is being disrespectful. So he obliged; yet ask some, and that’s the worst thing in America’s history. Lol.
Regarding BLM, personally I thought it was bull chit. U can ask anyone in my family, & I said this movement feels like a propaganda for something else. The fact is, BLM brought more attention to the LBGTQ community than my own. There’s a specific reason for that, & the founders became rich off of it, which they r now under investigation. They ain’t nowhere to be found now, right? Buffalo just happened & them chicks is ghost city. With that being said, pls understand ppl riot out of pure angst & anger. All of our major riots have been spawned from deliberate injustice, whether that’s the Watts Riots in the 60’s due to LAPD killing an innocent man, Riots in the 90’s for LAPD brutalizing a driver, Riots in the 1920’s in Rosewood, Fl for killing young black men & making it public event.
My guy, there’s a reason E Reed vented his frustration; yes this is a country geared for free speech, but like anything, just b/c it’s free doesn’t mean it doesn’t come at a cost. Do I think we live in a hyper sensitive world, now? Absolutely; but, there’s a stark difference between hyper sensitive & flat out ignorant. Calling an insurrection as a ‘dust up’ is ignorant, especially when said insurrection resulted in the loss of lives. So what’s worst: a ball player making a stand for social injustice or a militant mob looking to impose harm on those elected to office?
