Alex Bauman Appreciation Thread

I’ll appreciate that hes gone. What a terrible player.
Don’t understand some fans. The guy was a starter and contributor on the best Hurricane team in over 20 years. His biggest short coming was he wasn’t as good as some of out great TE’s from the past. He was a solid but not spectacular player. I really think it is sad that some fans want to take shots at players like him. I thank him for his contributions and wish him well in the future. We needed somebody to step up at TE this season and he gave the offense enough to be successful.🙌

No, his biggest shortcoming is that he literally did ******* nothing on one of the most consequential plays of the season by exerting minimal effort. That overwhelms anything else he did the rest of the season and he will live in infamy as a result.

Two real bone headed plays; one by Testavarde and the other by Bauman, likely cost us two more National Championships.

I have never been in the business of bashing players and I am not going to start now. I am sure AB is a good kid and I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors. Still the bottom line is his effort or lack there of cost Miami a title. There is no excuse for that all. Listen, there are fumbles, ints, busted coverages that have and will cost a team a game and possibly a title. But that punt block man.......

My ? is, being that this off season he was heralded as “sneaky good”, & he got so many snaps, what does this say about our TE room?
IMO, it tells us what our eyes tell us. The room is underwhelming and practice reports of Lofton being “the best player on the team” were nothing more than hype.

I don’t care what anyone says, one play doesn’t lose you a game.

I could list 10 different things that cost us the title, so fixating on this is approaching insanity.

Unfortunately for Bauman, 95% of what he did well isn’t flashy enough to get him noticed. Some of the blocks he made to spring Fletcher and Toney during our playoff run will never be highlighted, which is a dirty shame. I appreciate his contributions as a Cane.

People can call me whatever they want, but I see no reason to continue to pile on this kid. There isn’t a day that will go by for the rest of his life where he won’t think of that punt — but I guess that’s not enough for some of you.

Watch any cinematic recap or replay that you want from this season — notice how hard this kid rooted for his teammates. Always the first one in the end zone to congratulate and celebrate with his boys. I’m sure, just like Toney, a lot of guys had his back after that mistake and were telling him to keep his head up. Our fan base can take some notes.

He cost us the championship bc he was lazy and never got out of his stance. If he touched the IU player, he wouldn’t have blocked it

The notion that 1 or 2 plays can't be the difference between winning or losing is false.

Years from now the missed field goal and blocked punt will be cited as to the reasons Miami lost. If this situation was reversed, Miami wins.

And OP is a cuck for starting this thread.

His untimely drops cost us at least one regular season game if not more...
The championship game was treason level failure... give him the Testeverde award... or better yet rename it to Bauman award
