LOL this guy couldn't even hold Laveranues Coles jock strap

Was you saying this back in 99? No you wasnt... My point is that he got a second chance just like Preston Parker... If takes advantage of this opportunity who knows what might happen... I'm not calling him the next Coles... Wasnt even a 3rd wideout on FSU... And look what he did once he was presented with another chance... He had the best career out of all those FSU wideouts...

Idk about overrated. They had better coaching in HS than they did at Miami lol. Half were misused and others were in the Shannon doghouse. We needed to run a spread type offense and an attacking defense with the guys from this class.
Yeah I agree. I dont know I'd say they were overrated. I think the worst part about this class is the misses. TY Hilton, Lavonte David

Had him, fortson who played like he was on roller skates. Was that the Lance Leggette class, good alligator arms
This was the 2008 class where Shannon had to make good on all the recruiting misses that had taken place under the last three years of Coker.

Shannon signed seven wide receivers that year, including Aldarius.

I've posted about it elsewhere but it was a great example of what happens pre-portal era when a staff fails to recruit a position for a year or two. You end up oversigning in a subsequent class, which then repeats the cycle, because why would a 2009 player sign when there are seven 2nd year players ahead of him.

Incoming Wide Receivers:
2008: 7
2009: none
2010: 1
2011: 2
2012: 5
2013: 1
2014: 3
2015: 1
2016: 2
2017: 2

It took almost a decade to normalize.

Something that I've remembered from the late, great Canespace site. There was an NFL scout mentioned - anonymous - who at the time said that Miami at that time was the worst coached team in college football.

Good work.
There are a lot of things I hate about the Portal, especially the part where players quit on their teams during the season plus some of the other tampering and shenanigans from players, coaches and handlers. But I like the ability of players to move around for better situations, especially those buried in the depth charts and/or not receiving good coaching.

Quarterback was another example of a position that we couldn't recruit at under Coker:

2002: 2
2003: 1
2004: 1
2005: None
2006: None

Shannon comes in for 2007:

2007: 1
2008: 3

Three is a very high number for quarterback recruiting pre portal era.

But despite this, and referring to what you said above, two of those three 2008 signees transferred out before the 2009 season and had to wait a year. Leaving us with just two quarterbacks going into that season. And then the quarterback recruiting cycle repeated itself

2009: 1 (transfer)
2010: 1
2011: None
2012: 3
