It was on the SE corner of 53 and 19, half BBQ joint, half gas station. Was there for many years, but I don’t see it on Google Maps now.

It was honestly the best BBQ I had living in GA. Williamson Bros in Canton and most GA BBQ think Vidalia onions belong in everything. 🤣

It was called Big D’s BBQ.
Williamson is just mediocre small chain BBQ.

Dreamland is a chain from Alabama, although I do like white sauce.

Next y'all are gonna tell me you and @TheOriginalCane are hitting up Fox Bros.

Ay Dios Mio!

@RF-4CCane was it this Big D's? Because Big D's was located in Downtown Cumming, but must have had an offshoot in Dawsonville. You're right, it was amazing. Was a COVID victim unfortunately.

Yeah, must have been an offshoot.
Here’s a picture from Google Maps. Like you said, probably a Covid victim. Shame.

So they are military? Are yell leaders not in the corps of cadets? Their cult is confusing.

It's very confusing. Someone says that aTm has 2,500 cadets...but aren't there more than 2,500 people dressed up like cadets at the games?

Again, I respect the military and all, but in my particular opinion, if those cadets aren't at the game to present the colors or to serve as security, they should leave the starched pants at home instead of putting on Class A's for a hot, sweaty football game.

Fox Bros is mediocre as ****. Nothing wrong with it; it's fine. I just don't think it deserves all the accolades, and I would never choose to go there.

Wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.

And, yes, there may be better barbecue in other cities not named "Atlanta", but Fox Bros is quite good for this town.

For the record, when the weather is warmer, we hit Heirloom once a week. We also hit Lewis last weekend. And I like Sweet Auburn, though I've only been a couple of times.

Name the better spots in ATL. And, yes, I can't drive to Austin every time I want brisket...

Ah, found it (not that it was hard). Their website is still up. They closed November 2024, and had three locations, the one I knew in downtown Cumming, the one you knew in Dawsonville, and a third, also in Cumming.

RIP Big D's

There is better BBQ in Atlanta. Heirloom all day, every day.

But the best spots aren't in the city. They are OTP.

Oh also, if you want brisket, like I said earlier in the thread, Socks Loves BBQ here in Cumming is my fave place and their brisket is far better than Fox Bros.

Lil ole St. Simons GA has two of the best BBQ spots in the state. Southern Soul BBQ is the famous spot and my favorite is a little hole in the wall, The Beach Comber.

Southern Soul BBQ has great burnt ends, if you're into that sort of thing.

Now this is the showdown we’ve all been waiting for.
