Lil ole St. Simons GA has two of the best BBQ spots in the state. Southern Soul BBQ is the famous spot and my favorite is a little hole in the wall, The Beach Comber.
Good lord, that's effectively Jacksonville.

Oh also, if you want brisket, like I said earlier in the thread, Socks Loves BBQ here in Cumming is my fave place and their brisket is far better than Fox Bros.
I own that book and my husband and I used that book to perfect our technique on the Egg.

So you could also come to Cumming and try ours, but it's obviously got its limitations.
I know. My 8-year old son and his friends who lose their minds at the word "balls" are in for a treat in the next few years.
Oh my God.
Charlotte likes to say they had the first gold rush because a kid found a 17 pound nugget and his father used it as a door stop for several years. In reality, both happened around the same time and both had mints. No way dude, my kid will be devastated! Dahlonega is also where the gold mines are because it's the site of America's first gold rush (it's just two towns north of me) The jits go on field trips there practically every year and it gets them even more wired than candy.
The Atlanta Canes should plan an event there and we can all drum up gold for Canes Connection.
Ah, sneaky, sneaky! So the Carolina gold rush was in 1799, and the Dahlonega gold rush was in 1828, so I am very confused as to why they would both claim they were first. But it seems a lot of the Carolina miners ended up moving down to Georgia and so that one kind of overshadowed the Carolina one, and it also resulted in a lot of industrial growth and historically significant events.Charlotte likes to say they had the first gold rush because a kid found a 17 pound nugget and his father used it as a door stop for several years. Through the years in this insane asylum, I’ve learned to choose my words wisely. Even with much due diligence, the lunatics on these boards always catch the slightest misstep.Oh my God.
This town has ruined me. How did I not notice all of those innuendos?!?
**** a duck.
I love how lunatics = one of my co-maudes.Through the years in this insane asylum, I’ve learned to choose my words wisely. Even with much due diligence, the lunatics on these boards always catch the slightest misstep.
Did you ever go to the old Harold's bbq?Wrong. Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong.
And, yes, there may be better barbecue in other cities not named "Atlanta", but Fox Bros is quite good for this town.
For the record, when the weather is warmer, we hit Heirloom once a week. We also hit Lewis last weekend. And I like Sweet Auburn, though I've only been a couple of times.
Name the better spots in ATL. And, yes, I can't drive to Austin every time I want brisket...
Didn’t take you long to figure out what some of us have known for years.I love how lunatics = one of my co-maudes.![]()
Unlike all of you, I've never been a pubescent boy. My brain doesn't naturally think of all of those innuendos.Didn’t take you long to figure out what some of us have known for years.

See, this is why I love this board, the history I learn!
