Adarius Hayes Charged in Deadly Crash

So as an Insurance Agent who doesn’t just sell insurance, but actually consults, educate, & look at actuarial data, younger individuals (assuming licensed at 16 yrs old - 24 yrs old) have always been the most expensive due to their lack of experience/caution. However, there’s tangible data showing this new epidemic of youngsters being absolutely reckless w little regards for themselves or others has spiked exponentially since the world shut down. What’s more alarming is a new demographic that’s following this same course: Ages 25-35.
Are eyes buried into screens playing into this at all? Cant drive a 1/4 mile without seeing a moving driver staring at their phone.

It’s safer to drive 120mph on a German Autobahn than I-95 from the Martin County line south.

I drive from Tampa to PB County usually once a month. I-75 and I-4 don’t compare to the stupidity on I-95 now. And I-4 sucks because of congestion and tourists.
Yeah it was crazy.

My passenger (who doesn't drive) was losing his **** in the passenger seat. I had to keep reminding him "Yeah, imagine how I ******* feel!" as another nutter undertook, overtook then swerved across two lanes of traffic to take the exit at 80mph!

So several things after slowly reading article posted in the OP:

1. Saw he was charged w vehicular homicide & not manslaughter. These r clearly two different set of parameters, & based upon discovery, it’s clear y.

2. This young man was already driving reckless prior to the accident, driving 70 mph; what’s most concerning for me is he actually sped up to 78 mph b4 the accident.

For me, being objective and strictly a professional:

This changes my perception; this goes from accident to intent. Based upon the point of impact, this means the victim was already legally into their turn & instead of Hayes decelerating, he accelerated. With that said, I don’t wanna assume there was ill-intent behind him accelerating; maybe he wasn’t paying attention, or maybe he thought he could pull off some Fast & Furious move where he felt he could time his speeding by just avoiding an incident.

Assuming this was not malicious & simply negligence/bad judgment, I’m still gravely concerned that this young man decided to accelerate as the victims were turning. Furthermore, I hate playing this “what if” game, but could this tragedy been avoided if he maintained the speed of 70?

Nice cars.
Can you adopt me? Lol.
I’m a simple man. I drive simple vehicles.

In my town and nearby city, I have friends who are cops who they tell me they late spring and summer they make a killing writing tickets to kids who just got their permits and are racing up and down the local streets. They tell me to never let your eyes and on all sides of the road, including intersections.

Regarding Hayes, I think he should time to reflect on what he did but 25 years is a bit excessive, IMO. Those sort of sentences should be given to hardened criminals, not hardened cretins who make stupid mistakes.

Accelerating while incoming car is making left seems to be a thing these days. I don't know why as it is insanely aggressive and dangerous. I also see folks hard cutting from far left lane to far right, just to get off an exit. Very commonplace in soFla. Also, driving fast and passing cars from far right. Just very dumb stuff.

I agree with you. He’s a repeat offender and lives were lost, but we see premeditated murder get less time.

Pinellas county is pretty lax as a circuit court. I think he’ll get a plea deal and end up with 5-10.

The state was looking at the left lane for passing rule a year or two back.
This would solve a lot of fatalities.
As a veteran of driving German Autobahns, when you know what people are going to do I.e., pass on left and stay in right, not pass on right, then there are a lot less accidents.

Also 18 wheelers in the right lane should be mandatory on all interstates and toll roads in Florida.

Yep. My wife was going to buy my daughter a Mustang Mach E. I said no ******* way.
She was a terrorist on the road with a BMW 3 series, not putting her in an electric car that goes 0-60 in 4 seconds.
Electric vehicles are fast, but also typically far more advanced, for instance Tesla has parental controls basically that allow you to set speed and acceleration limits, set safety features, and even send curfew notifications to phones... as well as have full gps tracking and all that.
Plus most EVs pound for pound are the safest rated vehicles in impacts youll find... well at least Teslas are

Yeah, but these kids, their friends and tik tok.

I put parental controls on her IPhone. She got them hacked in 24 hours.
I put a Bouncie on her OBDII.
She or her friend, found it, took it off and threw it in a pond.

🤬

The other issue besides the cost, was she constantly runs out of gas. And she drives between PB County and Tampa all the time. WTF do you do with an electric vehicle out of juice on SR-60 in the middle of BFE?

No thank you ;)

when they bring these level of charges, theyre pretty **** sure with the investigation that what theyre reporting to the media is correct esp since this isnt a small county that isnt capable of proving a. possible overcharge. pinellas SAO can handle this. also very unlikely this even goes to trial too as he likely pleads out for a lesser sentence

he was doubled the limit at the time of the crash and driving recklessly with a history street racing and speeding. hes ****ed.
Right cause there certainty are never cases after investigations of people being wrongly put into prison for charges that carry substantially more prison time than this, right? lmao.

But my actual point is similar to yours - that this wont go to trial as it'll likely be a plea deal. But just logically if it was so set in stone that he has no argument and is 100% guilty as charged, then why would a prosecutor allow any plea deal to be substantially lower? It's obviously because he in fact can make some arguments in his defense, and who knows how successful or not they'd be. Like who in Hayes situation wouldn't be trying to make the best case possible that the 80 year old making the unprotected left wasn't the MAIN cause of the deaths, and doubly so if they weren't wearing seatbelts or whatever else they may have been required due to age/weight....

95???

THIS IS ON MY EVERYDAY COMMUTE TO REGULAR STREETS IN SOUTH FLORIDA.

THESE KIDS DONT NEED AN NIL EITHER TO DO IT...THEY ARE DRIVING LIKE THIS IN BUCKETS, RENTALS, AND TURO APP CARS.
SEEN SOME KIDS LIKE 18 IN LAMBORGHINI SUVS JUST ZOOMING ON THE REGULAR.

And YEA HAYES is Cooked. He is gonna sit for a long time on this with all those deaths....i dont know if he has a good enough lawyer to deal with it his bond is high as ****.

He probably gonna get about 10 years at minimum
I'm guessing a minimum 20. it may be 10yrs for each death. He is done.

Those Tesla features are built in and require a pin to change. So unless they know the pin, they aren't hacking into a Tesla. I mean the best they'd be able to do is literally reset your tesla account password (by accessing your email/computer or whatever)... Not sure if MachE has similar features though...

As far as running out of gas, well I'd say every single day in an EV you start with "a full tank", same way you start every morning with a full charge on your cell phone. Also you'd charge before or after hopping on 60 in Fort Drum or Brandon. The car fully plans your route for you including charging and how long you need to charge, so unless you blatantly ignore it, it's kinda hard to ***** up. But they are currently putting in new superchargers in Bartow and Lake Wales for exactly this reason....

No. He should certainly get a few years (at least if the facts are as presented), but 25 is ridiculous.
I mean would it be ridiculous if it wasn't in a car and the obviously illegal thing you were doing was the direct cause of 3 deaths? I mean....
