Here's a three game stretch in 1987

November 7 Miami (OH) #3 Miami Orange Bowl • Miami, FL W 54–3 40,128
November 14 Virginia Tech #3 Miami Orange Bowl • Miami, FL W 27–13 40,105
November 21 Toledo #3 Miami Orange Bowl • Miami, FL W 24–14 37,010
Don't confuse me with the facts,my mind is made up!

I want to start by saying I am not a Golden supporter, but we have to have the worst fan base anywhere. Even when we are winning the attendance has alway sucked. This was the same problem at the Orange Bowl as at No Life. Unless it is a big name team we never fill the stadium.
I am starting to be embarrassed to be a UM alum the way you fools are acting.

The fans need to support the team win or lose period. This is why the city of Miami will always be know as having band wagon fans for all of our teams professional and college.

Stop making excussss and support the team GO TO GAMES!

Stop trashing our fans. There is nothing wrong with our fans. Over a decade of total crap and the "same" number of them are showing up for a no-body cares game. Maybe we have a small fan base and a huge following? I remember thousands of no-shows at Dolphin game during the Perfect Season. We use to wait for the number and boo them. It was close to 10,000 some games. This is Miami. THE U is small school with global alum base. I seem to remember a lot of empty seats in the swamp last year. And just a couple years ago the criminoles couldn't sell all their bowl tickets and the school lost a ton of money on the bowl game. Have you noticed the Michigan stadium? Did they have like a 1000 weeks of over 100k in the stands until this year. I sat through horrible team and games in 70's in the OB with so few people you couldn't ever yeah to the closest one. But now we know what THE U can be and this crap is unacceptable.

We should fly banner over the school everyday to "Fire Donna without pension!" Maybe a different creative one each day. Donna show have show cause. Donna stinks. Make this the worse year of her life. She is the root from which this crap came. I torn up my annual donation check and threw it it Foote's face. Almost decked the ***, but at least we had decent coaches. He was a smuck but did not intentionally destroy any chance of having a program.

It this doesn't work, maybe we should fly banners at OTHER ACC game saying "Throw Miami/Temple out!" The administration gets its money from the ACC regardless so lets threaten that! Not to mention how embarrassing it would be to them. We sure as **** can't get any more embarrassed as fans.

Love that there is still passion to win among Canes fans.
Agree w everything you wrote but I wasn't a fan/alive in 70's. My perspective really begins from being a student starting 2000.

I have young relatives playing B team football in other states who I had rooting for Miami when younger. I get my nephew a Canes hat last year. He's starting SLB for B team at 4A school. Number 52. Too humiliated to wear the Canes hat now.
And I don't blame him. Guess he's "not a real Canes fan". But he could've been.
My 3 year old boy is sitting in front of me watching cartoons in a UK jersey (wife went there). It's not a basketball jersey though. And he tells me he's a wildcat.

This sht for brains arrogant AD and corches are not only keeping current Canes at bay. They are actually making it very hard for us making attempts at raising Canes.

For the Administration to stick with Al and rebel against the people, aka the fans, is from any organizational leadership viewpoint very stupid. If people aren't buying your product you don't change that by stating your unwavering support for the leadership responsible for the fans dismay. UM reeks of stupidity at the highest levels and it confounds me how the school continues to ignore the loss of huge amounts of money needed to support all the athletic programs.

Worst Administration in the country, they really don't give a **** about the fans at all....Blake James is just a puppet he's utterly useless

LULZ at all the UM shills in here who continue to lie about the actual attendance yesterday. That was the smallest group I've ever seen at a D1 game. Smaller than a normal spring scrimmage when UM is doing well and the fans have some hope.

You shills can dig up all the past attendance numbers you want, but the people who actually went to those games in the 80's, 90's and early 2000s and aren't UM shill accounts can assure you that was the smallest group ever at a UM game.

All the attendance numbers UM puts out these days are completely doctored, but go ahead and keep quoting numbers and not pay any attention to what anyone's eyes actually saw.

I was at the Rutgers game when we were in the midst of probation and struggling badly and it was pouring rain. I thought that was the smallest crowd I'd ever see, but yesterday was far worse.

Why is everyone so rustled about the banner?

Don't remember anyone being rustled when the banner flew over for Shannon to be fired.

I don't believe this board was around back then, but there were plenty of fans on Scout and Rivals who noted the embarrassment and compared it to the stupidity of the Fire Butch, From First to Worst, From Champs to Chumps, etc. We have a well earned reputation for being the worst fans in all of college football.

Bama fired Shula for going 6-6 after 10-2 plus winning cotton bowl. If you recall, their starting QB was injured in that 6-6 season.
Auburn fired chizik year after he won title.
Other fans don't have to endure what we have to, so I'm proud our fans pick up the slack for this sht Athletic Department.

Banners wouldn't have to be flown and we wouldn't be the "worst fans in all of college football" if over half of our fanbase and administration had a clue.

But the fact that most of the fanbase is just now figuring out that Golden sucks...well....

Per ESPN: ATTENDANCE: 43,953

I don't ever recall seeing a stadium look that empty for a Canes game before, and Ive been going to games since 1977.

/only saw it on TV but it looked BAD.

Granted it wasn't full but it was 100000 degrees during the game. A lot of ppl were in the concourses throughout the game. Still wasn't a large crowd but larger than I thought would show up. TV doesn't convey a heat stroke during that game.

i was there. wasn't as bad as on TV. i would saw the real number was probably closer to 25,000.

if we would have beaten GT we would have had an extra 500 tops. let's not fool ourselves....

I can't help but wonder if the administration might take the fans more seriously if they decided to communicate with the university in a civil, adult manner. Flying banners, calling the coach "Folden" or "Dorito" really doesn't convey to them that the fans they are interacting with might be the ones donating big money and supporting the university financially in other ways. These actions contribute to why so much of our fanbase is considered a joke to the rest of the college football world.

And there is a trophy for being the best fans? Sorry if we are tired of paying for crap. No more, gave away all my tickets. Not even FSU im showing up for. Enough is enough. Revolution and change don't come about by playing nice. They are quite comfortable collecting the ACC pay check and ticket money and not going all out to give us a better product on the field. Long term pain for short term gain.....no no, Golden is already giving us the pain. Short term embarrassment for long term gain. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but this is not time for head in the sand, its going to be 14 years since we won anything. Its time to take a stand. Enough is enough

I was there. Frat parties were thumping and kids were pounding beers and celebrating like they won the World Series. Half those kids didn't make it into the stadium and just kept drinking.

Noon game + HEAT + parties + poor record to date + stadium that holds 70,000 + student body of less than 15k = what did you expect? (Beating on dead horse here)

I agree that lots milling around concourse. Also, game was never really close so many boltedx early. 4th quarter was down to handful if hard cores.

Also, FWIW, banner looked like an ad for the sponsoring web site. Why put the name on the sign unless you are just grandstanding for credit.

I enjoyed watching Duke, Yearby and Kayaa.
