Yeah that’s the one. ******* Bally. Bain of my existence.

Outside of that Hulu live is pretty golden.
Spot on. I'll swear by Hulu Live but that Bally (FSN Florida) **** is beyond annoying- especially if you're a Heat fan.

Jimmy Johnson said about a week ago that the reason Miami was so dominant in the past was because we were INDEPENDENT and because we played Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame…ie an INTERESTING schedule that had us on TV every week.

He said because of our schedule we were able to recruit whoever we wanted

Said because Miami is now in the ACC, we will never be “back” but that we can still be a playoff team every now and then

(Starts at 8:00)

Penn State was independent too until 1993 and Notre Dame won't schedule us. Until a few weeks ago, we didn't have an AD with any gravitas to schedule big teams. We also didn't have a playoff back then where it was difficult to get in without winning a conference. There are only 7 independents left and 3 of those are in talks with Conference USA. This isn't exactly the company we want to keep or a fruitful path to the playoffs.

Notre Dame
BYU
Army
Umass
Liberty*
UConn*
New Mexico St*

* In talks with CUSA.

I think jimmy's mindset is outdated

that kind of schedule helped him before the internet and before recruiting was as easy as sending a kid a text every morning because the coaches could go recruit on road trips

now that's not needed.

and I'm not sticking up for blake too much here but we DID play good competition

do we not remember LSU, Florida, Bama and Michigan state these last few years? (and A&M next year)

Miami needs to either go independent like Notre Dame or join the SEC.

The ACC coastal is killing our brand and our national reach - that was Jimmy’s point and he’s dead on right.

Nobody cares about playing Pitt, Virginia, or Duke. Not even our own fans will show up for those games. Let alone asking sone random non-fan to tune in.

We need a better schedule point blank period

We need to leave the ACC coastal for a more interesting schedule. Either go the Notre Dame route or join the SEC.

Jimmy’s point was playing an interesting and tough schedule and being on national TV each week helped our brand and helped recruiting. That’s not outdated, it’s as true as it ever was. Kids want to play in big games on the biggest stage. They don’t want to play Wake Forest and BC on a yearly basis.

trouble is we aren't ND and will not get our own TV contract. we need the conference money.

so us playing LSU, Florida, Bama, Michigan St, A&M - don't qualify as good enough?

we haven't even won the acc. we're not too good for the ACC, we've completely let the conference down. until we can prove that we can beat middle programs we'll never have to worry about "is our strength of schedule good enough"

with the turnover this year and clemson dumbly hiring within, there may a changing of the guard and being the best team in the ACC IS the path to the playoffs: (i.e. Clemson)

I agree that the ACC is the easiest path to the playoffs. In fact, it’s why Jimmy said we can be a playoff team.

But being in the ACC absolutely hurts recruiting. Look at our class vs Georgia and Alabama.

Fact is, the ACC is a dull conference and casual fans aren’t tuning in to see us play Duke yearly.

I’m glad we’re playing A&M this year. We need to schedule teams of that caliber 10 times per year, not once a year.

We would get a contract. Content is king. Just schedule interesting games and someone is going to want the rights to show them
not trying to be disagreeable but we have no leverage to get any kind of contract like that. we haven't won the acc since we have been there. no chance Miami could get a Notre Dame like or even a Notre Dame light type of deal.
