ACC Scheduling Model

Another twist to possible playoffs and NY6 bowl games:

Keeping in mind that the ACC, SEC and probably the Big12 are looking at 10 conference games plus 1 ooc game:

Nicole Auerbach, of The Athletic on Packer & Durham this morning:

Another odd aspect of the 2020 season is that teams across college football could play different numbers of games depending on what their conferences decide, and Auerbach said standardizing schedules is not a priority.

“I do not think that everyone’s gonna try to play the same amount of games — honestly because they don’t have to,” Auerbach said. “Everyone’s anticipating that there would be canceling, forfeits, rearranging things around. So I think everyone’s just looking at a number that makes the most sense for them. When people look at the conference-only decision like the Big Ten and the Pac-12 did already, it’s about that flexibility. … It becomes easier from a flexibility standpoint to move things around, push things back, pause in the middle, make up things on the back end."

“I don’t think the overall number matters all that much," Auerbach added. "I’ve spoken to the College Football Playoff executive director, Bill Hancock, and he said it’s very possible that teams that the selection committee would be analyzing will have varying amounts of games they would’ve played. What you have to do, maybe there’s a minimum threshold of games you have to play to be considered for a New Year’s Six bowl or a playoff spot.”

Academically and geographically, USF or UCF would be a good addition and give us another in state rival.
Plus get a warm weather game for the season finale every year.

Cincinnati would be the best fit geographically for creating some decent balance (North and South alignment) and Memphis would expand the TV footprint naturally without creating unnecessary travel expenses (Westward expansion, decent sized airport). I would honestly think that one of these two is going to be the first choice if there is another addition.

I'm sure the "crown jewel" for the conference is a school like Vanderbilt or something goofy like that.

West Virginia or no one for expansion. Let the big 12 promote all the G5's they can. I don't wanna water down our already weak *** conference with more scrubs.

West Virginia just joined the Big 12, so I doubt they would leave.

If they full on add ND for this year it’ll be to the costal. The ACC will want a perceived ND v Clemson championship game.
I hope we tell them to eat **** but I’m betting the tobacco roaders will happily add them and let them slide (somewhat) on revenue sharing

Nah. Tobacco Road wants unc in the ship game vs Clemson. Expect the refs to work hard to make it happen. I promise you they don’t want any other school in it. Unc is their precious baby and they will promote the crap out of them

Bama and Clemson always playing ******* chess because their so **** connected

Per Clemson AD
July 24, 2020 (Zero Active Cases)
There have been over 800 tests of student athletes and staff. No active cases of COVID and no student athletes in isolation right now.

Clemson University athletic director Dan Radakovich said that everything remains on schedule to beginning football practice on Aug. 5.

Problem is, the ACC would need to find one more team to join because Notre Dame would make divisions uneven. I think Memphis could be an option.

Baylor. Easy plane ride across gulf and fits the academic profile. W. Virginia, Memphis, UCF, or Cincy are not even remotely close to what the ACC wants academically.

That’s why I said shameless. What an absolute embarrassment. I somehow think less of Swafford than I already did.

It's a joke. He should start wearing a gimp suit to work if he is going to let ND sodomize the ACC like that. They get all the benefits without having to pay? The other ACC schools better put a stop to that nonsense.

If the bargain is that the ACC teams no longer have to sign over media revenue rights to the conference until 2027 (so its more like the SEC) than I can accept that trade. It gives Miami a chance to join the Big 12 or do what ND is doing and affiliate with the ACC, get all the benefits, then ink a deal with Amazon Prime, Hulu, or Netflix to stream games and get independent revenue.

I'm very lazy but this might motivate me to write Julio Frenk and tell him that I think it would absolutely shameful for him to agree to it. There would be quite a bit of schadenfreude if Miami is the one ACC school that prevents ND from this sweetheart deal and ruins ND and Swafford's scheme.
