A tidbit on TE recruiting

I am not worried about tight end at all. Mueller looks like an awesome late eval, portal is an option as you mentioned and Briggs and Gilbert seem like good options too.

Looking back at the recruiting rankings from the past few years at the position, I recognize very few of the names. Hunt guys with traits, which is what we seem to be doing.

This is what D$ said about DeMarcus DeRoche earlier this year.

DeMarcus attended Key West his freshman year and didn’t even play football unlike DT commit Josh Johnson. Put up major numbers for a freshman on varsity basketball tho.

I don't know man… Outside of Jackson Dollar, they've been talking Cartwright for a long time (like January??). He and Karloff were both high on the board behind Dollar

If he was a major target and a priority, wouldn't we have done all the digging right away instead of writing him off to waste time with Karhoff?

It feels like he was further down the board and now we are circling back, which is fine, that is how it works. But there were other tight ends higher on the board, clearly.

Do you think that asking questions about an injury months ago will yield the same answers that questions asked today would?

Perhaps you don't understand medicine and physiology.

And you act as if it would be wrong to have concerns about taking two injured guys at the same position (given that Miami wants to play DeRoche at TE and he is coming off an injury too). I'm glad that Miami is doing its due diligence, while you look down your nose acting like this is only happening because Miami didn't want to "spend" on Karhoff.

Miami is spending. And spending plenty. If VaTech wants to blow its limited budget on a tight end, that is their prerogative.

All of your "legit questions" were just snide shade thrown as to why we are increasing our efforts for a kid that we have always liked and targeted. Yes, sometimes our priorities and pursuits will wax and wane. That's the recruiting game.

Seems like the plan is all coming together. Keep another recruit warm, force a rival to overpay, and then circle back to the kid you wanted all along once you are confident that he will be as good as he was before the injury. How is this a bad thing?

And if you believed posters who told you that we "moved on", then that's on you.

It wasn’t a poster it was D$ saying it. Maybe it was a long game, just seemed weird if we really liked the kid, why wouldnt they find out the severity of the injury when they found out about it, not when they were circling back. He forsure is a mouthpeace for the progrum in some capacity. Im not saying its a bad thing its just a fact. Maybe it was all smoke n mirrors..

It's all good. I love DMoney, I'd simply say that if Stringer Cristobell wants to put the word out on the streets, the word goes out.

We just have to balance out all of our sources of information and knowledge. The kid showed up for his visit in a cast. That requires some additional time and digging to make a final call.

The fact that we "allowed" VaTech to outbid us for Karhoff should be factored into the analysis as well.

lol I thought that at first too.. but most big, physical TEs ALWAYS look like they are playing with little Timmy’s out there. They are 6’4”- 6’6 and **** near 230-250 pounds! They better look like dads playing against little kids lol.

Mid is already proven to be a JAG
