A note on Portal QBs

I am not an insider ever. But in this case I know for a fact that this is false. Kid lives 3 blocks from me
What i posted is not inside info. Thats what I was told from a dude i have never met in my life until yesterday.

He couldve lied about being his cousin, lied about the info, wtf do I know. But thats what I was told. I didnt ask him for proof of relation.

So idk why you disliking my comment.

Frustrating that recruits from last 2-3 classes aren’t ready to step in. That said, none of these guys were big-time, can’t miss recruits. Projects at best. Nickle is a year in the program & probably highest ranked recruit, so time will tell. But there was no assumption he’d be the answer as a true freshman. Played in a successful system surrounded by talent at Milton & never got a look by UGA, despite his coach having a connection to Kirby. Dawson or a designated QB coach aren’t turning water to wine.
Yes and No, don’t know till you turn the Tap on. Regardless we need a dedicated QB guy. Foot work , mechanics, repetition, muscle memory are all things coaches do. In addition to working the most important inches, the 6inches between the ears. My daughter was a D1 athlete, as important as her physical conditioning was preparing her psychologically for the rigors of training and the season. She’s in business now and recently was promoted to a more challenging position. When asked how it was going, she said she felt like she was preparing to start the season, again. I told her, well you know and have the skill set to meet that challenge. It’s all full circle.

I mean, we could try.....if we want to just give up on next year.
Why in the world would we ever want to give up on a season? Not with the talented roster, we built. Portal quarterback is the way to go and those are just the facts of the game now.

We had an OC and a QB coach at the same time and it was a disaster.

It only works when the OC and QB coach have the same mindset.

What’s the words I’m looking for.. oh yeah,.. No S**t Sherlock. That’s why we vet potential candidates.

I guess I got confused with all the rambling about your daughter that has no relevance to the topic.

Considering Dawson has not ever had a QB coach it might be pretty hard to find someone that views the game the same identical way he does and then you're inviting chaos.

I’m hopeful we will add a dedicated qb coach. Just someone who can focus on mechanics, especially with the non-starters. Would be nice to potentially develop a guy that could start as a true sophomore.

Would love to have a true blue chipper QB that could realistically start as a true freshman, like JKS.

Most QB coaches at this level are glorified GAs.

I don't disagree that it would be nice to have a JKS but this is a completely different college football world we live in now when guys don't want to sit and learn - even JKS was on Oregon's campus and then quit/transferred b/c Moore was clearly going to be the starter.

Add in all the 5* busts and it seems pretty clear that the new model is to have an experienced transfer QB and then occasionally hit on a HS guy with tools that is willing to sit and learn.

Unless you are Texas and pay millions for Arch to sit while also paying more millions to your experienced starter the portal is going to likely be the answer for the foreseeable future.

Have you ever heard the legendary tale of Eric Crouch? It’s a good one.
I understand the point you’re making but…24 years ago might not be “the modern era”. Also, Crouch was a run first quarterback so he gets credit for 1,100 yards and 18 TDS on the ground. Thirdly, he’s widely considered one of, if not the least deserving Heisman winners ever.
