Yes, thats exactly what you do. Use him in sub packages where down, distance and situation require someone to cover a quick slot.

Thats a valuable chess piece if you can address an area we have been continuously abused on over the past couple years. Yeah, its great to have a do everything stud at nickel but football is so situational now, the same 11 dont play the whole game. You need to have answers to all the different looks an offense might throw at you.

Plus, the guy help up and played well on the outside for multiple years in the Big Ten. Why is it that now when he is in spring practice for us he is being abused by bigger WRs? Its not like he hasnt gone up against bigger, better WRs in actual meaningful games. If we cant find a use for a guy like this that speaks more to problems with us than him.

Well it seems like the coaches know his limitations and he knows he is not going to start so yeah just playing on passing downs would ideal. Nickel in man or boundary/safety in zone play calls.
 
He has a .86 transfer rating on 247.
Go thru the list of players with that transfer ranking on 247 the last few year and ask yourself: would you actually want any of them?
