A name I expect us to pursue

Hopefully doing the sensible thing and moving Brantley back outside where he played his entire career (to the level where we needed to go get and pay him) though this kid also played the majority of his snaps outside.

Why is everyone so against this Brent Austin guy? Have I missed the PFF grades or something?

Looks solid with 2 pick 6’s in 2 years.
A lot of people are ****ed in general re: the spring portal and this guy is just an easy target. I like that we’re adding some specialists and personally think our offense will be fine. DT and S are of more concern to me at the moment.

I believe people are redirecting their frustration with lack of safety options toward this kid. Signing Austin means they completely whiffed on their safety targets and are moving another player (e.g., Brown, Lucas, etc.) to safety.

Personally, I like the idea of moving Lucas to safety and adding an extra corner with experience to the roster.

Can you explain what Rev share had to do with anything? Isn’t every schools getting Rev share money
This sounds like a Clemson WR.

I know Clemson is pushing rev share to players and recruits as "evening out the money field" since their NIL isnt a top 12 collective.

They got like 4 WRs fighting for the ball

Brantley was getting picked on outside in practice. His size is an issue against bigger receivers.

I can see why they would want him in the nickel and that’s his only shot as a pro as well.

don’t know much about him but a 75.9 coverage grade sounds legit. if you need a safety and instead you sign a possible starting cb are we thinking about moving a cb to safety. Didn’t X play some safety at UW?

Right now, it’s just Brantley and Ewald at the nickel and Brantley has a pretty serious injury history (one of the reasons he was available for cheap in the Portal).

I haven’t had a chance to watch Austin yet. Is anyone familiar with his game?

This is a depth piece and ST player.
Gott abe deeper then the back 4, gotta be 8 descent strong as injuries pile up.

Nickel is a tough spot cause you're almost like a box safety but have to be mobile enough to play against a slot receiver. If a ram plays hurry up offense, you can go from being lined up in the box as a SAM, next snap, nickel on a Malachi Toney, then be covering an Arroyo.

Its a super tricky spot, that's why I'm a big fan of find a fluid LB prospect to play this position then pushing in a CB into it, but that's me and I'm a nobody.

Mack?

But he got abused in spring in run support at nickel. So do you only bring him in, in passing situations?
