5-star TE Washington dominant at Paradise, talks Canes and Van Dyke

****, my 14 year old son, who plays baseball, not football, would call out the same thing while watching games. It was so obvious and so ridiculous. Richt's playcalling would turn every 3rd and short into a low-percentage jump ball along the sidelines.
I was also a baseball player and so was my brother, my sister played softball. So needless to say baseball/softball is the sport we really know. I never played football, other than pick up tackle/tag, flag, and Madden/NCAA. Could not believe I was calling the plays pre-snap. You think the coaches making Millions who have dedicated their entire lives to the game didn't know what was coming? At the very minimum, last year was a huge missed opportunity to have a good year, maybe ACCCG, and have some recruiting momentum.

What made it even more infuriating is 1/2 the time those 3rd and 4 jump balls 15 yards down the field on the sideline were to a 5'8" receiver like Harley! So take an inherently low-percentage play and make it even lower percentage by throwing it to a shorter receiver....when all you need is a 3-4 yard completion!

Exactly!! I run a 4-5 yard out or a slant up the middle in Madden and it works beautifully LOL!!

I'm going to say something unpopular. I'd rather have Theo Johnson. Obviously I'll take Washington with open arms and be happy, but he basically can't gain any weight from here moving forward and he's a linear athlete.

So. We gotta shot at Theo? Like we do with Washington?

Take both and hand Washington off the Barry or Stroud.

If the kid was smart, yes, he would be a OT. Would redshirt a year & be an elite tackle. But without knowing he's willing to do that just from a TE aspect I want Theo. Again, I'll gladly take Washington with open arms, but my preference is Theo.

So make him an OT😂😂😂

Not a single DB could stick this kid at Paradise. Only way he becomes an OT or DE is if its his choice. If not, he's in the Portal and any school in the world would play him at TE. If we forced him into a OT roll or a DE roll, and he didn't want to, he would be gone in a heart beat, and it would be used to negatively recruit against TEU

Again, I'm not saying that's what he wants or what we should do. Just saying he needs to thread the needle to stay at TE & OT is the position he could much more easily find a path to money. He literally can't gain any weight moving forward. If he wants to be a TE & commits here I'll be happy. But at TE I'd rather have Theo. Not sure how that's hard to understand.

Yep the prototype NFL TE is currently like 6'5" and 250-255lbs but Gronk was easily 265lbs. This kid could blow up to 280lbs and just be like "I'm the next Eric Green....minus the drug problems!".

Anomalies are always silly. But I appreciate it.

Fair enough but anomalies are also only silly until they become the norm too. I'd be more concerned about being an undersized TE at this point if I'm worried NFL draft stock.

I said the same thing. Same thing f$u has been doing or not with McKitty. Baga really didn't feature OJ Howard either. We are #TEU

We're TEU, but Nauta was maxed out physically in high school. He ended up gaining 20lbs - no shock from a high school player & lost all his speed. This is where evaluations take center stage. This is my concern with Washington. He looks great but he can't gain any weight if he wants to be an elite TE.

This is silly and makes no sense.

You're silly and devoid of sense if you think it's beyond the realm of sanity that we'll see TEs in the NFL that are 265lbs+.

It's not like almost EVERY other football position has seen growth in the size of guys playing them in the last two decades, right?

You're going for anomalies. That's just silly for making a point. But best of luck for you not knowing sports. Congrats, you sound like a Tr##pT**M*$^n.
