The fact that UGA fired him and went with a first time HC should tell you all what you need to know. He is 2-9 vs rival UF (minus muschump). He wasnt battling probation. Coker has a .800 win percentage at miami. 4-2 in bowls

Also have you looked at UGA arrest records over the past 5 years. He does not run a squeaky clean program.

I agree on big games but I do think he would have a better talent base to recruit from down here and he is one of the best recruiters in the country.

He has had the #2 recruiting class on average since he became HC at Georgia according to several ranking sites including the below one:

I think he has the potential to have top 5 classes every year in SFL.

When Richt had those classes on his roster he was playing in the Sugar bowl, winning the SEC East and ending the season with rankings of 2, 3 and 6.

Richt has not been at the top of the SEC but still kills it in recruiting in Georgia. And if you knew anything about this area you would know it is the most cherry picked place in the country by just about every SEC team. He regularly goes up against the Saban's, Urban's, Miles's and Spurrier for kids and he holds his own like a ****.

I get he hasn't won any titles but that doesn't mean shiat at a school like Georgia.

Miami talent is next level shiat... the highest level in the country, bare none. That's also not debatable.

If Richt recruited this area he wouldn't have classes ranked in the top 10 he would have classes ranked in the top 4 year in and year out like AlaFNbama. With the talent we have in this area we should accept no less. With that type of talent you win the ACC every year and play in playoffs every year and win it more times than anyone else. Its you and bama and that's it.

Everyone wants to talk about resources in college well the number one resource in college is its players and the Miami area has the best resources in the country. We need a coach that can immediately mine every piece of gold in our area. That's what Richt will do. Parents will love him, kids will trust him, former players will love him, the media will love him and he is exactly what this admin wants. Grand Slam hire!

Go do your homework before you come up with some other emotional outburst that blows your tampoon straight out of your yoga pants.

I agree with the premise of what you said. Only in the last 24 hours have I begun to think Richt might be a good hire.

The problem is that Miami is a dumpster fire right now. 3 consecutive bad coaches and we are on the edge of REALLY becoming irrelevant in college football. As much as we need a "Home run", we need safe. One more really bad coach and we will be generations away from when we were good.

Richt brings a ton of stability and credibility. Frankly, much more then Davis. Although his big game day record is suspect, you can't deny that he has an upside.

For now, I'll take perennial 10 win seasons, regular shots at the ACC and a program that is not teetering on the edge of disaster.

Sometime getting fired puts the fire back in your belly.

I would call this a decent hire and exactly for the reasons you stated. This wasn't a high risk move. He will get us back to winning and build the image back-up. Will he makes us Bama or OSwho... doubtful. He has his detractors mostly not being able to win the big game. The evidence is there, you can't argue against it.

He may be able to pull just enough talent to overcome his deficiencies and win. We will see.
