#35 spring workout Ray Ray - Is this real?

There's no way we're pushing him out, and he's recovering from injury so there's no way he'll be attractive add in the portal. Kid is staying. That said, our numbers are abysmal and half the position group is on the injured reserve. So we don't just need a WR1 from the portal, we need 2-3 guys. If we don't get at least two, we're being stupid like we were at DB last season and it will cost us games.
I could be wrong but I took it as people thought he would leave because his playing time. Pushing him out would be crazy I agree.

Yea def need more wr's of course but you wanting them to start over toney is just strange
Nah. You handing a true freshman, that hasn’t played a single snap in college a guaranteed starting spot is strange.

Then again you are also the dude that wanted Ray Ray and others to play over Restrepo. So it’s very on brand for you.

I'm all for giving Toney the shot to be the starter. No reason he can't do it at Miami; kids are doing it on other teams every season.
For some reason our fan base wants these kids to commit and then sit on the bench immediately.

I get that some need the time; I just don't think he's one of them. We'll see over the next couple of weeks.
Nobody should be handed a starting spot based off of HS rankings or HS film.

You play the best players.

If that happens to be a true freshman ala OJ from last season then so be it. But nobody “wants” these kids on the bench.

I don't want any handouts nor am I saying there will be a handout.

and yea 3 years ago I said for Smith to play of X - which isn't that bad of a take. Yes X is the smarter sure handed, solid, starter you want. love him

but look at Smith this past year - broke out, big time play maker - I mean you throw him in our offense with Cam ward - he would have put up numbers -maybe not at slot like x but its not really a horrible take. take into the consideration that X was also butt buddies with our cancer QB in a culture that needed to be fixed.

My take is the coaches legitimately want Ray Ray to succeed and are going to give him every chance. Meanwhile, he's shown nothing for any other top P4 to take him out of the portal, much less feature him. Ray Ray is on a team with sympathetic coaches probably getting decent NIL that has Daniels, himself and a bunch of first and second years. Really only first years at the slot. If he can't make it here, he's going G5 or FCS. He can always do that next year if he can't prove himself this year. So I see zero reason for him to leave.

I hope he has a great season. But if I’m just speculating he’s got the size to play 3rd down RB and even nickel CB imo.

this ^^^^^ spot on but baby Jesus might be to good for coaches to end up doing this. imo

Miami was pretty spoiled last year with WRs as well. Was gonna be brutal for anyone to get reps outside the top group

A lot of guys on the bubble this spring moreso on defense with the new DC but that 2023 class hasn’t got much left

Smith just wants a good WR. Broke out at RB which I was shocked at for his size but super impressed how hard he ran in between the tackles at SMU didn’t think he could run it 20times a game. I’m happy for the kid

@TheOriginalCane isn't even a fan just somebody that follows uniform rules and likes older men

Yeah, I'm not a fan, right? I'm not a UM alum (undergrad, MBA, Law) or a season ticket holder or a booster, right?

Besides, you should read what he wrote. YOU are the one who made Ray Ray Joseph a punching bag, not me. I support all of our players, even though I know we need to add more Portal talent to maximize our 2025 season.

Wake up. You are clearly the problem.

You are so full of ****. You absolutely demand handouts for any 18 year old that you fell in love with when he was in high school.

And then you have the nerve to slander Xavier as TVD's "butt buddy" (though I'm sure you're an authority on the subject). As if the UM all-time leading WR in receptions and yardage was just the product of being friends with TVD. Meanwhile, Xavier JUST CAUGHT PASSES from any QB who threw them to him from 2020 to 2024, and did NOT follow his "butt buddy" to Wisconsin.

But, yeah, you're still ****ed about Key'Shawn Smith. The guy who "broke out, big time" at SMU. Or maybe Brashard Smith, who had to change positions at SMU.

Refresh my memory again, was this "big time break out season" the one where Key'Shawn Smith had 33 receptions? And did he have 33 receptions at Miami in 2021 or at SMU in 2024? Trick question, right?

Or are you talking about Brashard Smith being moved to RB because he just wasn't a very good WR?

"It's really not a horrible take". Yes, yes it is. You screamed about how Key'Shawn Smith, a guy who NEVER caught more passes in one season than he did as a sophomore at Miami in 2021, or Brashard Smith, who also had a good sophomore year and then declined, should be starting over Miami's ALL-TIME leading WR in receptions and yardage.

Yeah, that is a TERRIBLE take.

Bring in another veteran body in the portal and let the depth chart work itself out. Not that hard.

He looks like he’s always looked. Nothing new here.
