OP called Lashlee an asshat for not putting in Thad, who can’t block and seems wholly unready for the game as yet. I’m not bashing him personally, I’m criticizing the validity of his argument. Because it’s simplistic and wrong. If you take issue with my word choice and phrasing, fine. I respect that.
Roster management is a wonderful thought when you have a roster of RBs. We don’t, nor do we have an extra TVD on the bench. We effectively have 1 back, every play Rooster was in mattered, and he held up well physically. When Cam played 100% of the snaps they had Don coming off an injury (or already out, I can’t remember) and Rooster suspended. It’s not like they've been playing with a full deck all year.
What’s the rotation threshold that would’ve sufficed? Getting Franklin and Brown 10 carries total? 15, 20? Would everyone have been ok with the roster management then? How many missed blocks would’ve been acceptable, because Rooster didn’t have a single target out of the backfield this game. He was kept blocking a ton. Are we supposed to rotate in inferior backs just because, regardless of outcome?
The OL cannot run block well enough for an average back to get yards. Im not even down on the freshman, I’m just saying they aren’t ready to be rotated in with minimal disruption.
How many of the runs were called and how many were TVD making a read and a give? If 4 had 27 carries instead of 32 is that better? What if he had 25 and 5 catches? Where’s the line?
It’s one thing to say, “hey we should look to rotate guys a bit more” and it’s another to say “look you asshat you can’t manage yourself roster”. OP chose the latter.
