3 and 4

To date, i have never seen a D Lineman play/wreak havoc like Sapp did against Nebraska in the OB. Bain and Mesidor are incredible to watch and are slowly working hard to get to Sapp's level of disruption imo.

Says something when Erickson had to keep him on the sidelines from practicing against our offense, because they couldn't get enough plays off with him out there...

Without cheating: RB Blake Corum, WR Roman Wilson, and TE Colston Loveland. Donovan Edwards was the backup RB who started in 2022 when Corum was hurt. I think all of those guys made the NFL, though we'll see who sticks around.

Cheating: WR Cornelius Johnson is in NFL but Id have never pulled that name. TE AJ Barner is TE starting ahead of Elijah Arroyo in SEA.

I take your point though, a handful of fringe NFL skill guys is pretty underwhelming for a national championship roster.
Yep. Definitely some very good players. Lovelace and McCarthy should be in the league for a number of years.
Corum and Donovan were very good but not special. Wilson has yet to make his mark.

But your last point is it. We will likely have as many offensive 1st round picks off our roster as Michigan had (2).

One thing about the Florida game was how much it saved our defense snaps wise. I think we have depth issues on the front 7 so the more we can rest them during the season the more we can hopefully hold up. Michigan that year just seemed to have more juice at the end

This is a great point and completely overlooked. We play at a slow pace, which likely will reduce our offensive numbers as it reduced possessions. But the flip side is that the defense plays fewer snaps. And if they can create 3 and outs, they will play very few snaps.

What was the number against UF? 52? That is an incredibly low number and one that every defensive player should be able to handle.

If we sustained a couple more of those drives stopped by penalties, we could have had higher O snap counts, higher scoring and still kept the Gators off the field. That's what I'm hoping happens vs. FSU.

I’m really hoping our offense can start clicking in the back 7 so we can get lots of snaps for the 2-3s. Not only to keep the 1 snaps low but also to add depth with reps for the 2-3s

19 pressures they only ran 52 plays ☠️
36.5% is unreal. These two are playing out of their minds.

Individually
Bain - 10 pressures on. 52 snaps 19.2%
Mesidor - 9 pressures on. 52 snaps 17.9%

In addition to that

They did this against 2, preseason too 10 offensive lines 😳

I just realized Lagway only attempted 23 passed 🤯 he was 12 of 23 for 61 yards.

So collectively that’s 19 pressures on 23 attempts - 82.6% pressure rate
Bain - 10 pressures on. 23 snaps 43.4%
Mesidor - 9 pressures on. 23 snaps 39%

To generate that much pressure on the preseason #4 offensive line is insane.

A lot of people on this board talk about the secondary being tested, but with 3 & 4 getting to the QB the way they do, I just don’t see any offensive line remaining on the schedule having the ability to give their QB enough time to test this secondary consistently

Interior guys just have a built-in advantage because of where they're aligned. If you have a Sapp, Aaron Donald, Suh, etc in the middle of your defense, there's nothing an offense can do. They just annihilate the middle of your offense every snap. Edge players can be somewhat mitigated...you can run away from them, you can run into the middle, you can step up in the pocket if the interior players aren't getting push, you can chip with backs and tight ends and slot players, etc. But when you have a guy who is just light-years better than anyone else playing the Nose or DT, they can just literally wreck an entire game.
Imagine Gerald Willis on this D.

Feels like @DMoney would enjoy this post as some podcast content

I believe it was 29 pass rush snaps. With the pressure, not every play results in a throw.

I would love to see some of the young guys develop. Miami has to get a few blowouts so they can get the young guys more game reps.

We will see how it plays out, but the thing I keep going back to is, who is the team that stands out this year above all? I dont really see one yet, so why not us? Every team seems flawed in their own way. We have a wide range of outcomes this year, where we could end up 9-3(doubtful but possible) or we could win the whole thing.

This. That's my question for fans who say this team isn't good enough to win the natty: who is then?

I don't see a single elite team this year (well maybe Oregon, but they haven't played anyone yet). There are probably 8-10 teams that could win it all, and I'd put us in that group. But all of those 8-10 could also miss the playoffs entirely. It really seems wide open
