2nd Scrimmage Breakdown

A&M and Clemson both have holes on their teams as well.

Clemson has a brand new OC and DC and a mediocre QB.

A&M went 8-4 last year with some bad losses. They're only as revered as they are because they've been recruiting well and they beat Bama last year.

I think we win one of those and probably still drop a game we shouldn't somewhere else.

I see a 3 loss regular season.
I'm starting to think so too. @A&M, @UVA, @Clemson.

Only 1 receiving TD in a full scrimmage is very concerning; Alabama's WR Traeshon Holden caught 3 TDs in their last scrimmage for comparison. You would usually hear about a receiver that is either making incredible catches or is really fast around this time anywhere else yet here we are...

Just our luck too, we have a legit Day 1 type of QB but no legit weapons to throw to :snoopfacepalm:

You think we keep Clemson and A&M close?
Why do we keep crowning Clemson and A&M as these unbeatable teams, A&M was 8-4 last year and Clemson is coming off a somewhat down year as well and lost Venables who hs been the one consistent for that defense after all these years. A&M averaged 380 yards in the now offense driven SEC. I’m not saying we win either or both games but the fans of each of those 2 teams have a lot of the same questions we have going into week 1. At the end of the day neither team has a TVD as well.

I spent the last 10 minutes writing a post with a lot of the same points.

You will not beat Clemson with a bunch of UFA WRs and a mediocre offensive line. That front is going to be too much to handle. I think we have more than a puncher’s chance against A&M if we can get to the second half within range.

Think Frank Ladson is going to surprise a lot of people this year. 6-4 4.4 speed it has to come together at some point. Nobody ever brings up the fact that our DBs were the only unit to get any praise out of spring ball and have been praised multiple times in fall camp. The schedule sets up nicely with the 2 warm up games in the beginning. We will know who the #1 WR is going into the A&M game and I expect it to be Frank.

If they return that same offense u sure as **** can. Them man beat GT 14-8

No disrespect to gaby and lake or any reporters doing their job and thanks for the post …

But **** i wish someone was there to tell us what the offense and defense are doing lol like i can guess based on steele and gattis previous jobs but it would be cool to know about whats going on football/scheme wise rather than just little notes on players that in reality might not mean much lol. Like we already know we have talented athletes lol
9/3

lets see how this defense plays in the games.

I know our board feels confident until I see it idk man….hopefully every one of you is correct. But Defense is my love passion, side of the ball I played my whole life.

Watched some of our transfers highlights I think we got better but not Clemson level. **** this line ain’t better than Pittsburgh DL.

Let’s see in the games!
We don't know anything either way comparing to Clemson or Pitt. I don't think Pitt's D-Line is all world. We didn't have any problems moving the ball on them last year and won't this year either.

I think we can say our D-Line is improved and deep. We need to see them in live game action.

The AtM game will tell us where the team is at on both sides of the ball.....TBD

I like swinging for the fences but you have to have backup options. There were more than 3 WR available that would improve our roster/production.

The DL might have as well. I just think it’s better to have a surplus than hope & wish for surprises. JMO
There's only 85 scholarships. Those decisions would have had to of been made in the Spring. The staff did bring in Colbie Young. To have brought in more WRs, someone would have been shown the door and that didn't happen based on their evaluations.

One of my best friends went to Mich and has above avg connections into the football program

Under Gattis Mich had multiple WRs underperform. Since he’s the play caller Gattis isn’t able to devote as much time to the craft as a standard WR coach… this is the negative

Looking at their 2021 stats,

RBs caught over 60 balls. Fairly even distribution of catches between WRs.

Here’s my predictions, in no particular order:

1. RBs catch over 50 balls
2. TEs catch over 50 balls and 8+TDs
3. After X, the next WR with most catches is BSmith with over 30. Within these catches, he has over 5 espn type highlight reel plays
4. We avg 33 per game and very close to 200yds rushing a game
5. We go 10-2 with a win at Texas AM
6. ESPN does multiple pieces on our DL and the rotation of guys performing well
7. TVD is top 10 in heisman voting but not final 3 because he wont have gaudy stats

We know the height and speed of Franky, but is he physical (50/50 balls) and can he catch?

Well I knew Frank wasn’t it when he dropped that TD in the back of the end zone in the spring game, I do hope he puts it together though

Call me optimistic but I think with this team even struggling to find a true #1 WR will win 9 games atleast as long as our RB stay healthy. We’ve seen how gattis can plan around deficiencies. The defense will be much much much improved in itself leading to more wins. “You drive for show and putt for dough” this team will grind out wins and beat the teams they are supposed to. My opinion
This team will score points easily against everybody but Clemson and aTm. This team will tackle on defense. Less penalties and stupid mistakes by being better corched adds up to 10 wins in my opinion.

I should have written 30/game. I’m lowering my expectations in the hope of being pleasantly surprised.

We only averaged 30.9 vs FBS opponents. These dudes saying 34 are factoring in the high school game we played.

Vs. teams with winning records, in which we played 5, we averaged 24.8 PPG, which was 57th in the country.

Lotta fools gold last season that make me nowhere near sold on this offense. I know TVD is talented, but he lost his 2 most productive receivers, it surely doesn't sound like someone has stepped up to fill those voids yet (but it's 2 weeks into camp, there's still plenty of time), and until proven otherwise, we have an OL who can't move my grandma off the football.

We were the worst rushing team in the ACC last season. The worst. So, I get the optimism around TVD, but the bottom line is this was an incredibly imbalanced offense last year that sputtered against good teams. I'm not impressed scoring 47 vs Duke and 42 vs UNC (35 on offense). Those defenses were swiss cheese. I want to see us move the ball consistently in both phases vs A&M and Clemson and even FSU. But perhaps the silver lining is we can win the coastal without having to be truly elite on offense, because these teams are so putrid. We'll see.

I’ve had 3 relatives play at Michigan and one currently plays at Michigan.

Many here said to take your information with a grain of salt due to the Harbaugh influence.

Honestly I personally don’t care what these coaches did at other stops. I care what they do here. Everybody gotta go earn them checks we got two weeks!

However my little cousin did say Gattis was smart as ****! We will see in the games
