247 ceo predicting torrance gibson to miami

He was 72.35% accurate last season. Interesting.

who was? Gibson?

even if so, dont look at those stats. they mean nothing. I've seen a couple of AH games and most of his throws are bubble screens or short passes & if not there he takes off. Also remember the talent on that team last year. If he wants to be Terrelle Pryor? then he'll have fun at Osu or Aub..If he wants a future in the NFL? then he'll switch to WR asap..look at Denard Robinson

Blanket statements like these always amaze me. What exactly does he have in common with Denard Robinson as a player? And what makes you think he'll be a good receiver other than he's tall and fast? No one knows how good his hands are, he isn't particularly sudden, nor does anyone know if he has the physicality to fight off DB's and make catches in traffic. More goes into playing the position that just being able to run fast in a straight line.

He has work to do like all HS QB's, but his best bet is to play QB. More and more teams, even at the NFL level, are getting more athletic at the position. He has every tool needed to be a high draft pick at the position. I'm not saying he couldn't play WR, but he could play QB just as easily. Not sure why everyone wants to pigeonhole the kid.

You obviously havent seen him on 7v7. hes not even the qb on his team, but he is a BEAST at WR! n i dont wanna hear about its different when you put the pads on. as soft as football is nowawadays it might as well be 7on7. his route running isnt great but that's something that he can work on. he's 1st round NFL talent at WR & thats not an exaggeration, as many other ppl who have also seen him play WR have said. I made the Denard Robinson comparison as someone who shouldnt have played QB in college ,but was so electric with the ball in his hands that Michigan let him play there & what is he now? playing RB in the NFL

I knew someone had this info...Thanks!

Another example of a kid I want on this team regardless of where he ends up. He's busting with athletic potential. Just figure it out later.

To be fair this is the same site that had Kaaya to Boise State predictions in January. Would be a pleasant surprise though.

Nice essay, dude. I was talking about the CEO of 247. Not much of a blanket statement.

Huh? My comment wasn't directed at you.

BTW Luiiis I actually agree with you that his offense doesn't really tell you much about his QB abilities to date. He isn't really asked to make any protoype throws down the field, doesn't mean he can't though. Basically what I'm saying is he can play receiver, but he has all the tools to be an elite QB as well. I just find it funny that people think he's a shoe-in to be a receiver when he's shown literally nothing at that position other than at some 7-on-7 camp, where practically any kid with some athleticism can stand out.

With how barret is playing and braxton coming back, with urbans lies, that all is enough to look somewhere else, id take the kid at QB give him a shot and if it doesnt pan out then move him, something we should have done from the start, but hey you are talking about the staff that said rudolph would be a better DB than WR

Maybe we would be an amazing DB....but he looks like he will do just fine as a WR. The problem with doing something like you said...bringing him here with a "shot at starting" just seems like a no win situation. I have read lots of posts here about bad coaches who lie to kids, etc. Whether he is right or wrong in the long run, maybe its best to not mislead a kid and bring about ill will amongst the HS coaches

Its not lying if you give the kid a actual shot

Exactly. Nobody anywhere said lie to the kid.

If he comes here he's gotta know it won't be as a QB. Between Kaaya and Allison or Lawson he probably wouldn't see the field at all if he didn't switch. This guy would be a coup for this staff tho, hes such a fluid athlete you can't say no. I know people have cooled on him cause of the games he's playing but this kid has elite playmaker written all over him.

If he is really determined to be a QB no matter what, then we shouldn't offer him a scholarship unless we think he has a legitimate shot at winning the job eventually. We have a lot of needs, especially on defense and we can't afford to waste a scholarship on a guy who will sit on the bench for two or three years and then transfer out. That has happened to us with a few guys recently. It wouldn't do him any good either if he could be actually playing some place.

On the other hand, what do you guys think about the wildcat plays that Coley thew in last night? Maybe we could do more of that read-option type stuff with a QB like Gibson, when we are trying to protect a 4th quarter lead, when we face a team that's has a much better secondary than front seven, etc. I certainly don't pretend to know better than Coach Coley. If he is recruiting Gibson, it's because he thinks Gibson can contribute.

Dude could be a beast of a receiver. Maybe Coley could convince him of that. Pretty good QB also but I think he would be great as receiver.

i still say bring him in to play QB. He won't beat out Malik or Lawson. Get him that red shirt year and used to college football then propose to him to play wide receiver.

I say let's just get him. He's an elite recruit in our backyard that we can really use to help the program move forward no matter what position he plays. We as a program deserve him. We've gone through a lot and now it's time for things to go our way. He's elite and we need his talent to help turn this program around. It's obvious things are changing for the better for the program. Getting commitments from a hometown 5* kid sends the message to the other elite recruits in our own backyard.

If we continue to win they will come because the rest of college football will quickly realize that Miami is steadily making a come back to prominence. That means, in my opinion that we'll have more nationally televised games and that's a great sell to recruits. GO CANES!!!

Because he'll never be a competent college QB in the offense that we run.

pretty sure I heard Olsen was going to run this team when he got here too. Nothing is guaranteed kaaya can beat out

And Olsen was miles ahead of Gibson just mechanically as a QB. Gibson is a phenomenal athlete but not a QB

Show me where I made any definitive statements, I was simply stating my opinion. He doesn't appear to have the chops throwing the ball to beat out any of our current QBs, including Lawson and Allison. I'm actually high on this kid tho, just not at QB, I think he can be a elite WR tho. If he wants to play qb in a system that maximizes his athletic abilities then good on him but has a lot of work to do to catch up with the likes of Lawson or Allison.

He's announcing on Monday with three finalists. UM Ohio State LSU. He's gonna pick the ****eyes
