After landing Houston native Ezekiel Ayangbile earlier this month, the Hurricanes have continued to push for defensive line reinforcements from “H-town,” landing a commitment from fellow defensive lineman DeMarco Jenkins.



A 6-foot-3, 310-pound interior force, the Hurricanes secured the commitment during the four-stars’ official visit this weekend.

The Pearland product brings knockback power and athleticism on the interior, driving offensive lineman backwards consistently — uses his hands well to create separation with an 80-inch wingspan.

And while he’s force over finesse, the four-star can move laterally when needed and utilize some rush moves.

Moreover, Jenkins carries his frame well with good, stout weight which will only level up at the next level.



This past season he racked up 48 tackles, 18 TFL’s and 8 sacks in 6A Texas football.

Miami secured his commitment over the in-state SMU Mustangs, as UM has now landed a pair of commitments from Texas in one month after failing to land a single Lone Star product during Mario Cristobal’s tenure.

A main factor in the Canes Texas momentum — defensive tackles coach Damione Lewis, who both Ayangbile and Jenkins mentioned as crucial in their process to head to South Florida.

The Hurricanes now boast 16 commits in the 2027 class, with more names possibly on the way following a successful opening OV weekend.

I see Orien Harris about 10 times a year as we both coach at the same school, and he coached my son in football. Awesome guy and I remind him of this moment at least 5 times a year.

I've been holding that in my back pocket for years!! What's funny is that Erickson recruited another guy from NM a few years later in Nelson Smith, who washed out after a year

But I remember Carlos wore 82 as a TE, and then 68 as he got converted mid-season. That oline for the 1992 team was... well...not very good LOL

They’ll always get theirs but they are struggling a bit on the trail this year

Over half their commits are 3 stars kinda wild

Feel like for years we convinced ourselves we stole recruits from certain states, but really they were passed over. Not anymore

If your 1 tech is moving like this....just helps out the defense incredibly. This kid obviously just didnt update his height n weight...cause he looked bigger than 260 as a soph.
This dt class is pretty beastly...just need to top it off with the ends.

 

Hand usage and quickness reminds me of Moten. I can see why we prioritized him.
