2026 Roster Discussion

That's my thinking... if we could get him a $40k NIL, all while getting him weekend ACC coverage & experience... I think he would make a huge leap from the 19th round..... the $40k aint much, but just to hold him over for possibly getting a $350k+ signing bonus next year.... gotta bet on yourself....

$40k in NIL for a starting pitcher is nasty work

I'm pulling that number out of my a$$... if its rumored Cuvet is highest at $75k I think was the number, where do you think our starting Pitchers are at???

I’m just saying it’s crazy how little our players make, the numbers must be paltry compared to SEC teams

If Cuvet makes $75k, then yeah, $40k seems like it would be legit

LOL... now compare to college basketball starting 5...... think I saw, none of them make under $400k

Miami can’t match that for a year? Shouldn’t even be a question for him to return for a year, raise his stock for next year
Bro I feel like every time you talk about baseball NIL deals your numbers are completely out of whack. Like yesterday you were talking about $500k for a player. That's insane imo for college baseball with the exception of maybe like an absolute superstar.
Just how much money do you think college baseball generates? Cause I'd bet Baseball brings in probably less than $15M/yr. Maybe even under $10M tbh. And even in the pros players only get 50% at best and that's collectively bargained.... And they're all receiving "$100k value" tuition+room/board...

Baseball does not bring in the big bucks. It's probably not even all that profitable if at all with NIL

What NIL is profitable for any sport for anyone donating? You think I’m looking for a ROI from all the money I donate?

The ROI is to win for anyone that donates

The Texas Tech Softball player is making $1 million+, the ROI is for that program to win

The goal should be raise as much money as possible to get the best players period, that’s what CanesConnection is for

Who gives a **** how much the program makes, this is outside donations to get the best players possible

well..... on paper I'm super pumped with our D and hitting lineup... IMO CF has to be up for grabs with best option both fielding and AB... if Greenhouse is better than Torres, so be it..... battles need to be won... no seniority or favorites... I think 2nd is up for grabs as well between Sheahan, diGotti, Magana, Milano and maybe Zuan.... whoever is the best glove and bat...

Current Roster (37 Players) I would expect us to still land some pitching in the portal after the losses of Danny M. and Easton M. If we don't add any more players, we would have to cut (3) players.

Unfortunately a few freshman with potential will likely be looking for a new home pretty quickly. I obviously can only see so many clips of the guys incoming but there are 3 that jump out as guys who are probably at least a year away and probably closer to 2 years.

1 I am hesitant to put in that group because I think his upside is huge. But unfortunately these rosters sizes make for some really tough decisions. Looking forward to hearing about some early workouts and out of the Fr/Sophs who has made a jump or who is fell off/maxed out

... Because Baseball doesn't make any real money, like I told @CANESCANES

Who knew baseball was a Non Rev sport???

If rich boosters wanted to pay the team $5 million there’s nothing holding it back from doing so…..it has NOTHING to do with how much the baseball makes in revenue..it’s called NIL

No one is going to invest $5M when there is only $1M being made. Just the reality. The idea that we are just going to have rich boosters spending hundreds of millions on all sports with absolute zero regard for the value of their donated dollar is crazy.

Who gives a **** how much is being made????

No one is donating money based on how much a program is making in Revenue

The value of your donated dollar is winning

Miami baseball is a BLUEBLOOD with a rich history

So why not donate millions for Soccer, Swimming, Lacrosse, Tennis, Volleyball lol... Its easy to say well just spend Millions more than anyone else and lose hella money year over year... It's not going to happen though.

Miami is not a blue blood in those sports.

No one gives a **** about those sports at Miami

Uh don't we have a very good diving program? Some Track and Field champs. Some womens tennis champs. No reason we can't have good Golf teams. **** why not spend that money on a Mens Soccer program or womens softball? ...

You’re talking about individual champions and not actual team wins

Because I don’t give a **** about those sports. I donate to Miami baseball and Football because they are blue blood programs

Baseball and Football is my passion, I don’t attend Swimming or Tennis events. Could give 0 ***** about them, not donating a penny to those programs

The Athletic had an article in the winter talking about how NIL in college is impacting MLB teams draft strategies.

The article referenced Texas A&M as one of the top spenders in the country and cited Prager making $500k this year and Jace making $750k per their sources. $1.25M for 2 players.

“But they’re a non Rev sport”

Maybe we shouldn't try to mimic the team that has never won a CWS Championship and is solely trying to buy themselves into one and failing...

And yeah that's my point. You don't care about those sports. How many boosters care about Baseball enough to be spending an Extra few million PER YEAR on just the players? It's not sustainable. Again the numbers you've been talking for baseball have been VERY high is all I'm saying... Like you're talking about paying guys on the level basketball players make when those rosters are substantially smaller, each player has a larger impact, and the Basketball program on its own brings in what like 3-5x the revenue as baseball?
