2026 Roster Discussion

Getting Ogden back was very important for stability

Going to need to attack the portal for some front line pitching now
I mean every coach needs to be working the phones this week. No less than three Pitchers need to be brought in.
Of the newly arriving freshmen, who stands out as the top prospect?

Dubovik and Magana are the Top 100 elite players that will make it to campus

Hopefully they come in and trying taking a starting spot from someone

The high school elite pitching in this class is underwhelming

Sime was taken in the 4th round by the Nationals, Hamilton in the 11th round by the Red Sox and McKenzie in the 4th round to the Braves.

Hodge was also taken in the 4th round by the White Sox.

I see all 4 signing and not coming to LSU.

Sime sits upper 90’s and has been up to 101. His slider is becoming legit too. Needs a little work to learn how to pitch but I just don’t see how they get him to campus.

So I think I found a mid week option still available. Attached below.

Hoping some of these highly touted freshman get a genuine opportunity to compete for a position. Thats also how we get kids to come here - opportunity to play immediately. I think of Manny Marin and Levi Cark at Tennessee. Both played right away. They ride the pine they may be gone.

If you dont have starting pitching, and some talented bullpen arms you won't get to aha.

If we really just lost 2 starting pitchers Miami is in deep doo doo if your goal was Omaha after the Super Regionals last season.

Miami can’t match that for a year? Shouldn’t even be a question for him to return for a year, raise his stock for next year
I’ll let others speak to what we can and can’t offer as far as NIL, but unless he raises into say the 6th Round or higher, the team that drafts him will offer him peanuts because he has no leverage. Age is also a factor for teams, particularly when it comes to pitchers, and a lot of kids want to get into pro ball as quickly as possible.

Quickly as possible to get washed out, 10% only make it to the show. You better be at the top of your game when you enter the minors so you can progress as fast as possible

We had 3 pitchers get drafted in the 4th Rd last year & one in the 3rd this year. He's probably taking into consideration all options

I know what was said about Marks signing but I’m still skeptical.

He took such a big jump and has better stuff than Hugus. Another jump and doing it in the ACC and he’s likely going top 5 rounds and quadrupling his money.

Would be a silly decision to sign.

And his home town team (which is on track to be the most abysmal in the history of MLB) drafted him. I suspect he's gone.

Evans will have to be a SP now, and one of the freshman needs to grab that mid-week spot and nail it down. Would also be nice if Collera found it again - he was our highest ranked recruit we got to campus last year if I recall.

That's my thinking... if we could get him a $40k NIL, all while getting him weekend ACC coverage & experience... I think he would make a huge leap from the 19th round..... the $40k aint much, but just to hold him over for possibly getting a $350k+ signing bonus next year.... gotta bet on yourself....
