2026 Portal QBs

I work with QB's of all ages in TX. 6 years old up to P4. I can not figure out for the life of me how the Emory Williams and Judd Anderson evals happened. Those guys would be lucky to get a G5 spot. Neither of them had anything on their HS tapes or resumes that justify being offered by the U. I understand frame, but holy **** man they are statues that aren't even elite throwers. You have to be at least a little mobile (Beck), but if you're not then you better be Brady-esque throwing the football and processing coverage. They are neither. Boggles my mind how they even got in.
Now people are just saying things to say things. Judd Anderson is the furthest thing from a statue lol

Pretty sure he was all state in basketball and I’m pretty sure he has consistently been used as the scout QB when we are facing an athletic QB since he’s arrived on campus.

Judds problems are not his legs.

First chance to win a National Championship in 23 years and you're ****ing down your leg about next year.
More like “wristwasdown”

It's not worth arguing about any more. Those that want Bailey will never see it.

I personally don't believe that Mendoza would look the same way if he came to Miami. The system/structure that Cignetti has fits him to a tee.
We saw him at Cal. No one watched that and thought he'd be the Heisman winner this year.

As you and many others have pointed out, staff passed multiple times. There is a reason.
To add to this, I was listening to Todd McShay's podcast this morning. He had Todd Blackledge and Bear Fallica as guests. Blackledge talked about Cignetti's staff; their continuity and familiarity with both offense and defense and game prep is huge. It's very underrated as a factor in their favor. The offensive and defensive coordinators have been together for years....

Blackledge also talked about how Cignetti brought in a dedicated QB coach this season - Chandler Whitmer from the NFL (Chargers) who works with Mendoza every day. He talked about how invaluable this has been in Mendoza's development......

I have said it previously on other threads - Miami needs to seriously think about doing this, too. Dawson is not a developer; he's an OC/playcaller. It's why Cam and Beck have worked out so well. They came in after years of "developing' elsewhere. If Coleman is who they believe he can be, they need to make the investment in position. (I'm sure it's not about $$)

Miss me with this take. Indiana has a chance to win a National Championship for the FIRST TIME EVER and they wasted no time being aggressive in the portal locking up their qb for next season so that they can position themselves to be in this spot again next year. ****, they recruited over the brother of their Heisman winning starting qb in the middle of the playoffs.

100% this, and it's not a knock on Dawson.

This. Sacrificing **** for one year is the beta behavior. Stack chips baby and that's what I expect out of a coach like Mario.

There is NO way you just watched that and are alluding that he is athletic by college standards. Statue does not mean you run a 5.2 40. It means you are not going to be able to utilize your legs against P4 defenders who are, by in large, the most athletic players in the country. There is nothing fluid about him running the football. There are kids who run for 600+ yards and 10 TD in HS that struggle to use their legs in college because of how big of an adjustment it is. Him taking off for 20 yards and then running for 10 and sliding against a HS defense does nothing to show me he can use his legs at the college level. I would love to be wrong, but also I hope it never even comes to that.

Cignetti is a ruthless mf, I love him (hope he ***** the bed on Monday though).

That’s exactly the approach and the results I expected from Mario after our best season in 20+ years. Not going to happen unfortunately.

If nothing breaks this weekend then we should just get Alberto and hope lightning strikes twice. Same career trajectory as his brother out of high school. Very smart. Decent size. Probably learned a lot under Cignetti. Son of Mario’s high school buddy. I don’t know. I guess I’ll check back at 3pm
Was at the Indiana-Maryland game played at College Park last Fall. Alberto got some run as IU rolled 55-10.

He broke a 53 yd run from scrimmage and showed a nice touch on the two passes called for him (he was 2-2 throwing, one going for a TD).

Indiana also has to replace their whole team, its not the same situation at all. People can be mad about the way we handled the QB situation but we value and PAY for HS talent that we trust. I could care less about what they decide to do because thats not how we operate. We were never going to go out and sign 20+ transfers this cycle. Everyone acting like we're going to magically suck next year are delusional.
