I know I've had prior disagreements about adding a bigtime DE. I maintain it's what keeps us lethal.

This would match that expection:

Lightfoot/Lowe
Scott/Blount
Moten/Carter
Wilson/Scroggins

Young guys like Pickett, Charles (LOVE), Newton, etc.

But, with a 2-deep like above, opposing offenses will despise playing us.

And, that should be the simple goal. Still room left on the bandwagon and plenty of snaps to go around.

I don’t think people really appreciate or really understand how important Ruben Bain was to this team this year.
He and Mezi made everything else look better on defense. We better shore up any weaknesses we have at every position because our dline is not gonna play the way it did this year.
This game reminded me of the Richt days when the defense kept us in the game despite our offense going 3 and out over and over

Hopefully Mensah comes and fixes the biggest problem we had on this team

Edit: Moten JR however will be a very impactful player at a position we haven’t had a dominant player at in a long time.

Agreed. Adding a legit difference-making DE in the portal (and developing our internal five stars) is a must.

It is a profound advantage to have two monsters like Bain and Mesidor. This team did a lot of things well, but that’s what made us special.

Does Blount want to move inside on a more permanent basis? Really wish we could have a legit 4 man rotation at DT to offset potential injuries and give Moten and Scott rest.

I'd be shocked if Moten returns, he has been unblockable at times this year, like last night.
We’ll see how things shake out in the future, but I suspect in this new era, teams can only win championships by having most guys max out their eligibility. Indiana will feast on teams if they just operate as nfl factories sending off their best players to the league at 21. New model looks to me like you need seniors across the board.

Do you continue to see Lightfoot as a situational guy or a guy who will get more regular down reps at DE? I still see him as a situational cheat code, but not sure if he's a 1st/2nd down type of guy yet.

I like our chances of fixing the issue with Taylor who we might want to hire dc if heatherman goes in the be a hc in the future .

If Scott and Moten take the step forward that Bain and Mesi took this year, and Heatherman trains his guys in the back 7 to tackle the ball carrier to the ground, our D can be comparable to this year, just different.

Blount is the next one

If Heatherman sticks around I think we are getting too hung up on who is DE and DT though. Pretty clear he will just get the best players on the field somehow

Justin Scott thank goodness looks like he’s ready as well. He’s been freakish in the playoffs
