He needs more mass. He doesn’t shy away from being physical but he doesn’t have the size. Look at him in the run game. How many 230lb DEs do you see?
 
We need to get better at every position because we are going down by default at end. Bain and mesi were literally the best in the country as a duo and the best we’ve had at Miami together. Downgrade by default

If Lowe can be what he was being reported to be, that will be massive.

Sounded like he was gonna have a Toney-like impact on the defense prior to injury.

This would be like trying to explain to someone that says “why does the guy with the ball run into the other guys? Why not just run around them?”

Applying some arbitrary number to someone’s weight is what clueless people do

Edit: Moten JR however will be a very impactful player at a position we haven’t had a dominant player at in a long time.

Duh? I think everyone does you have a top 10 pick potentially with another fringe 1st rounder (depending on how teams view his injury history and age) in Messidor… they’re gonna make the team around them better.

This is it
3 & 4 are irreplaceable. We will take a step back but can still be a top 12 unit. Offense needs to take the jump though, and I’m confident we will with a QB with Mensah’s ability, especially if Fletcher returns.

The coaches agree he needs to add weight too. You the only one who can’t comprehend that. Show me the great DEs at 230

Moten/Carter
Wilson/Scroggins

Young guys like Pickett, Charles (LOVE), Newton, etc.

But, with a 2-deep like above, opposing offenses will despise playing us.

And, that should be the simple goal. Still room left on the bandwagon and plenty of snaps to go around.

I don’t think he’ll ever be an every down De but he’s a weapon . He can be used in alot of different ways. Like situational rushing , spying, dropping , or blitzing from Mike . I just don’t see an every down setting the edge de.
 
The DL will be fine, might need another 300+ pounder. As of rn, it’s only Moten, Scott, and Jones. SDE- Lowe, McConathy, Blount, and hopefully Wilson. Lighter DTs - Davis, Newton, Carter, and the Freshmen. WDE- Scroggins, Lightfoot and Pickett, Bryant, and the Freshmen. I do expect a couple portal entries, but i think will still be fine as long as the top guys don’t go and we add Wilson.

last year Mario made a weakness (the defense) into a strength by adding in recruiting and the portal. where do you think he attacks with the next year roster besides those who committed so far in portal?
