2022 WR Erriyon Knighton

Dumb question about his time.

For his age, how close is this to being Olympic caliber?
The question was answered already but yeah, this is legit for even an Olympic level athlete.

To put it into context, that time if ran consistently would make the Olympic semi-finals in the last 4 games with ease....The key though is consistency...

Jesus Christ I wandered into this thread, watched the highlights and wasn't too impressed but was intrigued by the track numbers. Then I saw this guy casually running almost Olympic numbers as a 15-16 year old. This type of athlete doesn't belong on a football field lol, he can do bigger things.

20.33 is fast as **** for any age. That time guarantees you an all American spot in college and depending on the year would challenge for 1st. To see him do that at 15/16 is simply sensational. His long speed is unreal. 10.45 is an elite time for his age. But that 200 is a grown man time... most kids his age that run 10.4 typically are running anywhere between 20.7-21.20. Seeing that tells me he’s got a lot of juice in the tank in 100. When he gets his start mechanics down good luck.

Just stop, he's not playing football for much longer, let alone college. That 200 time all but guarantees he turns pro in T&F anytime he wants. 15 or 16, geez, get out of here with that. Crazy.

His 100, wait until he gets some professional help on his start. He has sensational top end speed, but is leaving some time behind on his start and drive phase. Once he gets going though, he's pulling away. Part of that is his height, he's gotta learn to stay compact and down longer. Again, crazy talent.

He'd make way more money playing football than he ever would as a track athlete.

And how do you know if he wants to play Football in college or just become a pro track star?

Tyreek Hill could've been a professional track athlete too, he was running 10.18 100m & 20.14 200m in HS & actually medaled in World Junior Championships & he still played football. Phillip Dorsett was running 10.5's in the 100 & 21's in the 200 & he still played football. Anthony Schwartz was a Gold medalist in the World U20 championships & a the Pan American U20, he ran a 10.15 in the 100m in HS & 20.47 in the 200m, still playing college football.

You can't say unequivocally that he'll make more playing in the NFL versus on the track. He becomes the next big thing in T&F, he could easily make more on the track with far less wear and tear on his body unless he was also top of his game in the NFL.

That 20.33 at 16, that's out of this world. To put that into perspective, a Bolt ran a 20.13 a month before he turned 17 and this kid could get close to that with better starts. He beat that national record by 0.29, which is a huge margin. I'm not going to say he is the next Bolt, that's a tall task, but he's the brightest star we've got up and coming right now.

Sure, he could do both, but with that time the pressure to be our next big T&F star will be immense. Schwartz will eventually transition to T&F, Hill got his thing going, and Dorsett isn't even in the discussion with all those guys.

Facts El. We would sweep the 100 if it wasn’t for football. Nobody remembers 2nd or 3rd in track or who the last indoor championship was.
And even then most football players make more money than most sprinters. Olympic athletes make money from endorsements and Wheaties dgaf about a sliver medal. If your name ain’t Michael Phelps or Simone Biles you better go get a job coaching.
You could be a “dependable” receiver or DB in the league for 10 years get a pension, live good and retire even better if you have financial sense.

Yahoo article: THE NEXT USAIN BOLT?
Putting a Usain Bolt comparison on a 16-year-old kid doesn’t seem fair, but Erriyon Knighton might be worthy of that praise. Knighton smashed an AAU 200m national record Friday, running the event in just 20.33 seconds. That’s exceptionally fast...

While the Bolt comparison is extreme — Bolt has won 8 Olympic gold medals after all — Knighton put himself in Bolt’s stratosphere with that 20.33 performance. Bolt ran a 20.13 a month before he turned 17, according to David Woods of the Indy Star, so Knighton still has some work to do if he wants to match Bolt.

I love how some people keep saying he won't play football because he is fast LOL . We have seen this before. Finances alone says you will continue to have elite level kids pursue football until the economics say otherwise. That program (his summer track club) has been hinting at these times for MONTHs, but has had to balance his training with, you guessed it, summer football workouts....Welp anyways, he did THIS earlier today....
