2020 Recruiting.

Timberlake already had 30 scholarship offers when he announced a top-7 list last week that consists of Alabama, Miami, North Carolina, Pitt, Providence, Seton Hall and South Carolina. Among the teams that Timberlake cut from contention are Cincinnati, Florida, Kansas State, Maryland, Louisville, Ohio State and Virginia Tech.

Now that he’s trimmed down his list of schools, Timberlake is looking to visit some of his finalists. Stockrisers‘ Jake Weingarten reported that Timerlake will be visiting the University of Pittsburgh on the weekend August 30. He’s also got a mid-September trip to Miami planned, but nothing else is on his schedule at this time.

Per Insidetheu.com, Earl timberlake will visit Miami officially on September 13th, 2019.

Andre Curbelo (Nick Lucero/Rivals.com)
The Hurricanes ended things on a high note this spring thanks to the commitment of Harlond Beverly and are hoping that they have a few tricks up their sleeve this fall. They have found no shortage of traction within the recruitments of Rivals150 guards Lane, Deivon Smith, Earl Timberlake, Moody, Curbelo and Jamal Mashburn Jr. Landing Smith or Curbelo at the one, and filling in with Lane or Moody would be ideal for the Canes.

Hall will not decide until the spring and could visit Miami before doing as such. Cross already has visited the ACC program’s campus and with a commitment likely to be made in September, Jim Larranaga’s bunch sits as one of his top landing spots. Don’t sleep on the local program with Barnes, either, and while the Hurricanes will strike out more than they win this fall, Miami should be found fairly high up in the 2020 team rankings later on this year.

It looks like we are not the only ones expecting Miami to have a very good recruiting class in 2020.

The five-star is the definition of a utility knife that is best used as a small ball power forward. I’m not sure how great Barnes can be, but he sure is going to maximize every ounce of talent that he was blessed with. He has begun to shoot it better but still has room to improve. However, he is a lock-down defender that makes his teammates around him better. Oregon remains the most talked about landing spot for Barnes, but Kansas, Kentucky, Miami and Ohio State are in the mix as well.

Is Indiana the team to beat for Matt Cross?

Team to beat? No, but Indiana is one of the leaders in Matt Cross' recruitment. The feeling with Cross was that he might commit before the July evaluation periods and, obviously, that didn’t happen. Maybe after his surprise trip to Florida two weeks ago? Again, not the case as he scheduled an official visit to Texas A&Mfor Aug. 28. The expectation now is that he will be make a decision shortly after that trip concludes.

He has already taken official visits to Butler, Florida, Indiana, Miami and South Carolina. The Aggies are the next, and most likely the last, to host the top-75 prospect. Indiana and South Carolina have garnered most of the talk in recent months, but his visit to Gainesville pushed the Gators into a good spot, too. Could his visit to College Station change things? For now, the Aggies are playing catch-up but a commitment shortly after his Aggieland visit might make Texas A&M the dark horse down the stretch.

Anyone with an account, can you give us the cliff notes version of his comments about Miami?
No scheduled official visit yet, but he plans to set up visits with Miami and Tennessee (he has them scheduled already with Vandy, Georgia, and UConn). Likes the ACC and Larranaga's history with developing big men.

Interesting take on the development of big men under Coach L. Some people hear may disagree but I think it is interesting.

Three visits finalized for Jalen Bridges
ByBRIAN SNOW 23 hours ago
Jalen Bridges

One of the more versatile power forwards in the country has taken a big step in moving forward in his recruitment. Four-star prospect Jalen Bridges has now finalized three visits according to his father Cory Bridges.

Bridges, who is the No. 83 ranked prospect in the industry generated 247Sports Composite Ranking for the class of 2020, has finalized visit dates with Alabama, Miami and Xavier.

"Jalen will be making official visits to Alabama the weekend of September 7, Xavier the weekend of September 14 and Miami the weekend of September 20," Cory Bridges informed 247Sports.

At around 6-foot-8 with excellent length and an improving ability to handle the basketball, Bridges had a very impressive showing on the adidas Gauntlet with Wildcats Select. During the adidas Summer Championships and the adidas Gauntlet Finale, Bridges was a force scoring and rebounding. At first in July he was struggling some with his shot, which is usually his bread and butter as a player, but that picked up in a big way in the middle of July with Wildcats Select, and then again at the NCAA Regional Camp in Champaign, Illinois.

Recently Bridges cut his list to 10 schools, and a further cut down to around five is expected soon. Clearly the three schools that have official visits set will be in that final grouping, and then other programs such as Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Indiana, Texas A&M, USC and Oklahoma State will be vying for the remaining places on his list, and potentially official visits as well.

With his combination of size, athleticism and skill, it was a breakout spring and summer for Bridges who saw his stock soar in the eyes of college coaches. Bridges had the option of moving back into the class of 2019, but he has decided to stay in 2020 in hopes of getting stronger and more experienced so he can be ready to contribute from day one once he gets to college.

Already Bridges has made unofficial visits to Xavier, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia. As a native of the Mountaineer State, Bridges grew up a short drive from Morgantown, so he is very familiar with both West Virginia and Pittsburgh.

Look for Bridges to take the visits scheduled, and continue to move toward a decision in that time period. The intention is for Bridges to sign in the early signing period, and have a decision out of the way as he heads into his final season of high school basketball.

Because of his strong play during July, it is possible that Bridges could see a bump in the rankings when they are next updated. None the less, the four-star prospect remains one of the more coveted and versatile prospects in the class, and is the subject of an intense ongoing recruiting battle.

Originally, I saw him as the backup option if Scottie Barnes did not commit to Miami. Given that Scottie is waiting until next year to commit, it may be best to sign him and/or Earl Timberlake so they don't get left out.

I agree with the Crystal ball that he goes to West Virginia but the 25% chance for Miami looks good.

Finding legitimate information regarding Scottie Barnes' recruitment remains difficult. As outgoing and talkative Barnes is on the floor, he is that introverted off of it as far as his recruitment goes.

What we do know is that he has already taken official visits to Florida Stateand Oregon and that he went to the campus of the nearby Miami program many times throughout his high school career. All three are legitimate suitors for him, as are Kansas and Kentucky, and it should be noted that he has talked about playing with fellow elite talent at the college level, which would bode well for the two bluebloods.

He was a big fan of the Ducks growing up, to the point that Oregon should be thought of as the favorite for him. Could Barnes take a few more official visits this fall? Or is he ready to end his college recruitment? Your guess is as good as mine, but keep an eye on Oregon, and Miami should be thought of as the dark horse.

I still feel Scottie Barnes is the crown jewel of the 2020 recruiting class and Miami needs to start getting elite talent to stay at home.

Earl Timberlake would excel at Miami similar to the way Bruce Brown did and Kam McGusty will this season. The only downside is that he will probably only be at Miami for 2 or 3 years, which is fine with me.

Leaving early to be a first round draft pick is acceptable.
