2020: Do or Die For Manny Diaz

We'll see.

Manny Diaz is a corch and is bound to fvck this up. But any functional human on planet earth wins 10+ with what this roster will look like in 2020.

But, he's a G5 coach with a G5 staff, and Miami has seen G5 talents be immediate starters on this team...yet, we're a P5 school. I fully expect him to fvck this beautiful scenario up in some way. He's never been around a championship atmosphere...I question if he knows how to win. We'll see...this is a perfect scenario for him.

But...

Corches corch, and Manny Diaz is a corch.
I agree. Very telling for the person that reacted "dumb" on this comment. The fact is Manny should never have been hired in the first place and anywhere else he would have been fired for that performance, first year or not.

Corches will expose themselves. I just do not want next season to be fool's gold, especially with us opening Bama in 2021. It will be very obvious even if he does win 10+ games. (close, lucky games like 2017).

I don't think he said anything about up-tempo or spread the first time around. Did say he wanted "an offense that causes problems for the defense" though. LMAO wrong defense Mandy

Absolutely correct. If they don’t win the Coastal, he should be fired, without question.

Even the cross over game this year is Wake.

There are no excuses. I am willing to move past year 1. If you can’t win this division in year 2, with this QB and a legit offensive coach in your FIFTH year running your defense, you hit your ceiling and it’s back to being a DC.

Im scared of everything you posted here. It all seems pretty close to correct too. And that’s the scary part.

Last year at this time we were saying the only way Manny and UM lose 4-5 games if the QB room is trash, O-Line play is abysmal, and the team doesn’t learn the new offense from Enos and Co. And those 3 three things are exactly how our season played out.

Once again, I guess I’m cautiously optimistic. That said, we’ve won the offseason before-I’ve seen how this plays out in the fall.

BJ decides ...
. And i don't think his standard is as high as some of you guys. Otherwise he would have canned him this year...
i guarantee you that if Manny wins more than 7, he will get at a 3 year extension...

- We finally have a spread offense that stresses defense and utilities speed.

- We have a good QB who is also a PERFECT fit for said spread offense system.

- Not only does that QB fit the spread, an offense that puts less on the OL's plate, but he has the type of speed that will help minimize pass rush because teams will look to contain him.

- I know everyone is crying about the defense but we finished 16th and we improved against the run.

- We finally have a punter AND a kicker.

You know, for years we've always said that we're going 10-2 but that's because we look at how bad the coastal teams are year in and year out and always ask ourselves why can't we win it this year?

Next year might be the first time we say we'll win 10 games because our entire team is actually better then anyone in the coastal top to bottom not because we have 1 player we believe in like Duke, Kaaya, DeeJay etc or because we hired a fired HC from Georgia, or because one side of the ball is actually good, but because I can't see how we don't. There are no major, major questions at critical positions this year (OC, DC, QB, DL). We've found solid solutions for every single problem we've had for years.

Things that have plagued us over the years:

QB? Solved

Defense? Solved

A modern uptempo offense that will use our heat and humidity? Solved

Kicker or Punter? Solved

Bad OL? Solved. We will have a mobile QB and system that can play around the weakness of the OL. New OL coach who produces.

No Excuses

• He whiffed on his first OC hire and is now on his second.
• Whiffed on Tate Martell.

• Finally kept his word a year later and actually hired a spread offense OC that runs tempo.
• His new OC coordinated a top 10 scoring and total offense in 2019.
• His transfer QB is a senior who accounted for 50 TDs, 3700 total yards, and only 6 turnovers in just 11 games the last time he played.

• The OL (which he calls an "age and experience position) are all back.
• He has one of the best defenders and pass rushers in the country in Rosseau.
• He just landed Roche to man the other side who was also top 10 in sacks and TFL.
• His schedule is a joke.

No excuses left to be made.

He has to perform now.

If he can't win big with an OC coming off a year producing an elite offense, and a plug-and-play senior QB who's regarded as one of the best in the country, he never will.
No brainer. And this is why he fought Alonzo off hard. He thinks he's got this in the bag himself.

Dead on, man. 10 wins or GTFO. Our schedule is trash.

Think people are underestimating that the d lost some key players & is likely to be on the field a lot more series now. They better be ready and be deep

Not doing this again, for the 15th time in 16 years. Im cautiously optimistic but winning the coastal will still not be easy or even expected at this point in the offseason.

While I'm not discounting the possibility that Lashlee/King catch lightning in a bottle, I more expect a measured offensive improvement, but we wont be blowing teams out week after week by any stretch.

Please prove me wrong Manny.

He wins 8 games and he will be given a 3rd year, it's what it's. Hopefully we can see real improvements on the field and start building to take on Clemsom in 2021/2022.

I think 10 wins is a good season for us, but I think the ceiling for this team is 9.

That's not good - why does Mammy remind me of Willie?

Very disappointing first season.
Brings in hot OC
Brings in transfer QB (lets not debate Hornibrook v. King in this thread...I ******* get it, I'm just saying)

Here are a few 2019 Season Preview blurbs about Florida State

From Athlon:
"With improved coaching and chemistry — Taggart has acknowledged that the Seminoles players took longer than he expected to buy in — FSU should put a better product on the field. And that improvement, coupled with a much more manageable schedule, should get the Seminoles back to bowl eligibility. Eight or nine wins aren't out of the question, but even seven victories would be seen as an improvement."

From Bill Connelly:
"Five key points:

1. FSU learned a valuable lesson in 2018: a bad offensive line can wreck your plans. Every single one of them.
2. After enduring the Noles’ first losing season in more than 40 years, Taggart hopes controversial (and effective) offensive coordinator Kendal Briles is the key to a turnaround.
3. With QB James Blackman and a deep receiving corps, Briles should find plenty to like about his new passing game. And hey, the OL almost literally can’t be worse.
4. The defense was doomed by field position and bad turnovers luck and could struggle with Briles’ tempo, but with DT Marvin Wilson, LB Dontavious Jackson, and safety Jaiden Lars-Woodbey, there are stars at every level.
5. The schedule is loaded with tossups. If the Briles offense sticks, 9-3 or 10-2 is possible. But a 1-2 start and an anxiety-heavy fall, are also on the table."

From collegefootballnews:
"The Noles have to go on the road to deal with Clemson and Florida. Just assume two losses there, and then a few more among the big battles against Boise State, at Virginia, NC State, Syracuse and Miami, and be afraid of trips to Boston College and Wake Forest.

If and when Florida State becomes Florida State again, this is a 10-2 schedule with a realistic hope of splitting those showdowns against the Tigers and Gators. But for this team, starting to look the part, building it back up, and getting everything in place for a stronger Year Three under Taggart is the most likely step.

But being a ten-win program again would be just fine, too."

If those aren't **** near word for word what our 2020 season previews will look like, I'd be shocked.
