I was on campus at the time and have spoken about that loss with the team. You are just barking up the wrong tree with this thread. That loss created a new mindset, set in motion a winning streak and refuse to lose attitude that continued for 3 years. That is coaching!
If we didn't get screwed by votes/BCS, we would have won the ship that year. Many of the players thought that by the end of that year, that team was better than the 2001 team.
Complaining about Butch for an early loss on the road where we had turnovers and were down large early, Dorsey's first road game where he played lousy (reminded me a little of Kaaya's performance at Louisville), the farthest away game in the country, the loudest stadium in the country, Washington's best team in like 30 years is a rather weak argument for the total coaching career he put together at Miami. It's fine that you don't like Butch, but he is the safest and perhaps cheapest hire on the market. He has been here and done it before. No one of the potential candidates can say that.
