Please remember that it wasn't the hall of fame versions of most of these guys but the sophomore in college versions. Sophomores sometimes drop games vs top 5 teams on the road.

It's football **** happens. How did the undefeated patriots lose to the giants in the super bowl? Was it "corching"?

How did they lose this game? Washington I think was a top 10 team. Miami had not establoshed themselves as the dyanasty they became. This was the first game of the year and they had to travel from Miami to Seattle. That's a **** far trip for the first game on the road against a very good team. Also, their QB could run which was and is a problem for the Canes. It was just a tough match up to start the season. They made a lot of mistakes too if I remember correctly. The Huskies got completely destroyed the following year in the OB.

Dorsey was rattled early on and we were very conservative in the first half while we were making mistakes and they were playing downhill. That's a bad combo.

We adjusted at halftime but had too much ground to make up.

Travel 3000 miles against a team that ended up #3 , with an inexperienced QB. J green was hurt and did not play. Butch didn't like Portis and if he had fed him more in the game we would have won. Also was Shockey's first game, and he was a non factor as was DJ at FB.

You tell me. The rosters are posted above. Go look at the rosters for that Super Bowl and report back.

^^ yep, pretty much. Tough stadium/environment to play in. I don't think we were ready for that atmosphere.

So coRching then. Thanks for the reply.

IF I'm not mistaken, Dorsey was a true freshman with no experience in his first game on the road against a top team that year. Also most of the guys who became studs were true fresman or redshirts with no game experience. We were not expected to win that game, I don't even recall us being ranked that year.

This thread by op shows lack of sports knowledge. When you lose games it's not always about bad coaching or not having talent. Sometimes the players just don't play well and as a coach there is nothing you can do.

The Giants beat the Pats bc Coughlin has Belichick's number. He's won something like 7 of 9 meetings. It's mostly bc they play a lot of cover 2 against Brady, with 4 insane pass rushers. Brady against a nasty 4 man rush, 7 in coverage, and without easy underneath throws is a very different QB.

They also don't blitz him, which is smart considering he always seems to know every blitz coming at him and where the soft spot in the coverage will be. And finally, the Giants offense was able to score on NE, which forced NE to throw more, which feeds to the strength of the Giants defenses which were their 4 man rush.

In other words, they won b/c their game plan and scheme, aka coaching, own Brady and Belichick.
