20-4 last two seasons context

Did a Quick Look of the listed starts I counted 14 of the 22 as transfers, and a majority of the remaining to be JR or SR (not Cignetti recruits). Again, it was a quick look so it maybe off a bit. Also, they have taken 54 transfers in his two seasons. It has worked thus far, we will have to wait on the sustainability of it.

To your other point, he has had the same co-ordinators with him for the past 9 seasons and brought them along to each of his stops. Eventually he will need to replace them, but that is definitely an area where he out performed Mario in the short term.
thanks for that...I didn't realize it was that heavily lopsided with transfers. Can that continue? Who knows, but look at how well that's worked out for Norvell after the 12-1 season. I think there's more in place there, regarding his skill set and staff skill set that understands the game and needs really well. I could be wrong, and to add, I wasn't initially comparing him to MC for any other reason than solely to compare success and timelines. Folks aways seemed to think that Miami had so much talent already in place and just need a better coach, which was not the case.

And those 4 losses were to teams we should have easily beat. Mario’s- great recruiter, but a caveman of a head coach. You’ve seen his ceiling.

I guess some of us still need to continue to do the gotcha, callout and Mario sucks things this week when we’re playing in the CFB playoffs. Some of you guys have simply lost the plot to use a @LeedsCane saying.

I appreciate those on both sides of the Mope/Slurper divide who are just happy to see us take a step forward and are refraining from doing the usual CIS things.

So if we win next Saturday, you agree to shut the **** up forever? Or does his ceiling keeps getting raised the more we win and your gash keeps bleeding? If we win a natty, will you say his ceiling is only one and no way a caveman can win back to back?

Always gotta be one douchebag. I salute you digging those heels in, ma'am.
Sorry to wreck your rah rah session. Mario didn’t all of a sudden learn how to no not get beat by double digit underdogs all because we got picked for the playoffs.

Would you like it if I just pretended Mario out coaches everyone?
in my opinion
a college HC
has 3 main skills he needs
1. acquire talent
2. scheme
3. motivate

if you can be elite at all 3 that puts you in elite category, not many guys can do all 3
but mario has shown hes good at 2 of the 3 and hopefully **** let his OC/DC work so the other 1 doesnt matter as much
but of the 3 the one mario is bad at is the easiest to overcome with talent

we have seen elite talent with a corch win a NC ala LSU and Miami
i have never seen mid talent win a NC no matter how much better the x and os are

We've been a borderline Top 10 team in the nation over the past two seasons. First team out last year, last team in this year.

We're good.

...just...self-inflicted wounds.

About what we expected from Mario.

It just doesn’t look good when you’ve got Tulane and James Madison in over teams like Texas and Notre Dame and the point spreads are 14-21 points

Teams are too evenly matched these days with NIL and the portal instead of the years where maybe 4 teams had a legit chance. In that era it would have still been dumb but likely wouldn’t have mattered like this.

We were dangerously close to being left out so I don’t want to gloat too much about Notre Dame

Realizing I’m totally derailing this thread with another playoff thread
You know a few years back when Cincy went to the CFP I said you know what, these teams pay their dues just like the P4. If they have a good season, let them get their shot. Looking at it now, as others on here have said, G5 really need their own playoff. JMU and Tulane are going to get smoked. The committee knew this when they added them and did so just to avoid the backlash they are getting anyway.

I'm not comfortable with after bye week games yet. With that said, we're typically dominant going into the season, so hopefully the 3 weeks going into this game, will reflect the latter and not the typical bye week fiascos.

Yeah and you can also go the other way, too. Did we really deserve to win the Cal game? They kinda all even out. But I did think about putting the losing margins in there as well for added context, so here you go:

In the 4 losses, Miami has lost by 5, 4, 3, and in overtime.

We haven't lost a game by more than a TD since November 4, 2023, at NC State (20-6).
Watching the seccg on Saturday, I was wondering when the last time we were down 21-0 and just got completely manhandled. Has to be the fsu game in year 1 where prison mike decided to run it up.

Boy, how the turntables.
