4 easy games to start. 4 easy games to finish. 4 tough games in the middle. A bowl game. Top 10 pick at QB. 10 wins if Kaaya stays upright.

FSU may be the only offense we play that can outscore us and even they have a new qb.

I'll put UNC as a maybe but they lost Marquise Williams so I'm not sure they can keep putting up 40 points a game like last year.

I'm fully expecting a loss against VT on 4 days rest in Lane Stadium and quite possibly against FSU and/or ND but we are very much IN those games as opposed to being smoked against good teams like we were last year. If we take 1 or 2 of those games we could finish with 10 or 11 wins.

I don't think Richt let's us fall to a lower ACC team, say goodbye to the days of worrying about Pitt and UVA

richt calling plays again is a serious problem. his fsu offenses and early UGA teams beasted on people

Don't sleep on App State. They almost took down Tennessee tonight. Underestimating teams is how we end up losing to teams like Cincinnati.

Oh wait I forgot, bytch *** Golden ain't the coach anymore...still, don't underestimate anyone. Go canes

Fans "underestimating" teams has nothing to do with us losing to them.

Also, App State was trash. So was Tennessee. If you watched that game and came away scared of App State that means you've been Goldenized. We should expect to blow them out, anything less is embarrassing.

I left that game scared of neither, but App. State scares me way more than Tennersee. I laugh at their # 9 rank.

We need to stay healthy from this point on especially at lb, db and ol, but I agree!

@GT: playing GT always comes down to avoiding any turnovers. If we do not turn the ball over and the offense doesn't place the D in compromising positions, then GT cannot beat a well-coached Canes team. Games like these (the ones we are supposed to win) are the epitome of why Richt is stressing turnovers so much. If a QB or any player for that matter, is loose with the ball, U will not play. A lack of turnovers is the way that U avoid loses to teams U are supposed to beat.

FSU (Home): Jimbo is scared now that his mil ticket Golden is gone. FSU was just beginning to shed that lil brother feeling and lump in their throat about playing Us, and being out-smarted no matter their talent advantages. Like others have accurately said, Golden could have beat them with 1 or 2 adjustments the last two seasons. Richt has the ability and awareness to make those adjustments. We are back to defeating them off of their insecurity and our intelligence alone. OC Coley never established play calling rhythm against FSU, so our running game was never sincerely meant to work successfully. It served as a mask or different look for our passing game (which was always the focus). Running the ball, is how U beat FSU, and Richt knows this very well! We win.

UNC (Home): Like previously said, the stadium should be rocking for this one coming off of a FSU win, and I believe that an FSU win is vital to an emotionally charged win against UNC. Emotion will be needed because this is the game where our legs will begin to feel heavy causing our mental focus to sway, and our lack of depth to show. Coaching and direction will be at a premium in this game and if we win it, Richt is definitely the man. Avoid turnovers, everything must be perfect this day. Toss up.

@VT: This is definitely a trap game for me. This is a Kayaa game and I say go deep to Berrios and Coley early to silence Lane Stadium. We'll need a special teams to be lights out as well. Avoiding turnovers is imperative in this game, Kayaa can manage this one to win if the d-line is still effective. I think we lose this one by a field goal, as our lack of depth finally catches up to Us. Very close game and can go either way.

@ND: I believe that any UM team fielded on a Saturday afternoon with adequately capable and intelligent coaching stratagem can only be beaten by a team with superior talent, depth, and similar to better coaching than our own. This is the reason why I believe that the @ND game is the only for sure loss of the season. Our defensive lack of depth, the refs (intangibles), and road atmosphere won't help. Also, the QB and coaching comparisons are even, if not, slightly favored towards ND.

I'm cool with at least a 9-4 season, despite my predictions.

This is a 5-7 at best, season under Golden, so please don't even try to set lofty expectation levels for Richt in his first season just to somehow save Golden's face. Richt doesn't have to do anything to justify Golden's firing. It necessitated itself.

IMO, it was slightly more so that App St. played great (especially defense) than UT played bad. UT was #9 playing a nationally televised primetime game opener, pumped up at home and App Sy brought it straight to them.

My only true concern is their running game, their RBs get north and south really fast with no hesitation and pure intentions.

Very well-coached team all-around and fundamentally sound. They must have great position coaches. After watching last night, week 3 was a sure-shot loss by a Golden led Canes team.

We must protect the ball to win this game, and I think we are going to be surprised by how well the LBs play this season. We have to remember who they don't have experience being coached by. There's a silver lining to their lack of experience.

You act like you playing the game.

10 wins would be a great season, no doubt. After losing AQM & Grace, I'd be happy to get to 9.

Crazy observations after 1 night of college football:

1) Either Tennessee is highly overrated, or App St. is going to be a lot harder than we thought. I think it's both
2) Kayaa may be a Top 10 pick, but he may only finish as the 3rd team All-ACC QB behind Watson and the insane numbers Lamar Jackson is going to put up. Which is fine with me - Russell Wilson didn't make 3rd team All-ACC his last year at NC St., and that worked out pretty good.
3) The SEC East looks very weak, and the ACC Atlantic could be better than the SEC West

Tennessee's QB is extremely overrated. Even that touchdown pass he threw was garbage and would have been picked against a real defense. They will get rolled is SEC play and Butch Jones will get fired after the season
