MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

The problem is that you never want to be the nicest house on the block, because everyone around you is bringing down your property value. That's what's happening to UM, FSU, Clemson, and UNC. If the ACC was a rental company in charge of renting out all the houses in the community, UM, FSU...

The extension to ESPNs option by Phillips seems like the wildest thing to me. Without ESPN providing considerstion that extension cant be valid, and so they missed the boat in 2021

The more I think about it, the more that strikes me as the easiest path for this coming to an end. ESPN missed the window to lock in the contract, the extension they were given was invalid. Schools shouldn't be bound by it, and as such the deal terminates in 2027 (or whatever date is listed in...

the numbers from that site get us to 2.6M average, but it only has BC, Lou, FSU, UNC, Temple, and ATM. It has our 4 of our 5 biggest games, but also 2 stinkers. Id guess the 2.6M is a good estimate for the remaining games though (GT, NC State, Bethune, Clemson, etc...)

Something seems off about that guy's numbers, this one allegedly averages Nielsen ratings and seems to make more sense. Our numbers are for sure off... we had at least 4M viewers against FSU, and around that for ATM. For us to average 1.3M would mean that we had under 1M for the remaining 10...

Just trying to remind everyone that Norvell opted out of 2 losses in the 2020 season, not actually saying theyll opt out of the game against UGA

FSU under Norvell does have a history of opting out of games they know they'll lose (see: Clemson 2020)

Yep. I dont want to over emphasize our week 2 game against A&M, but winning that keeps us nationally relevant for our games up through UNC/Clemson. Increases our viewership numbers. It can only help our case

Frenk voting to expand removes the option to dissolve from UM's paths out of the ACC. If you're giving up that value, you better have an alternative method ready to execute for us to make up the $30M+ per year revenue gap to the SEC and B1G. From where I sit, Iooks like a poor decision

I doubt this would happen (and just returning to this thread after a post 8-15 hiatus), but if Stanford and SMU come in, hopefully it's as non-voting members

His very last comment is at odds with something you said early. Didnt you mention theyd lose voting righta after giving notice? Giving notice only works if youve fully abandoned a conference dissolution plan, so there ia a significant downside to just throwing notice around

I thought they were rumored to be a part of the 7 strongly considering dissolution (Louisville particularly was rumored to have a BIG12 home if I remember correctly). Also, BIG12 will get to renegotiate again before ACC deal expires, so potentially a better long term home especially if they have...

So just to recap... there were 4 firm no votes per the Athletic, and 4 firm yes votes per Pat Forde. Nobody here is assuming that VT was a yes vote, but a lot of us here are assuming that Rad and Frenk were voting yes.... Id imagine they probably said "lets hear what Phillips has to say" and...

Its been reported multiple times no vote happened, especially not last night. Unless this guy is breaking news, this is just emblematic of the sloppy and imprecise reporting around all of this realignment news. I cant wait for 8/15 to arrive, so we can see where the chips fall and get on to...

A week ago, I was hoping/looking forward to UM announcing a departure prior go the 15th. Now? I think our best case is all ACC schools stand pat, and we have a good season with high viewership to show our value. Next 6 days are important.

So ND wants new members in, forces the ACC to stay together, keeps their leverage with the B1G. Their leverage to remain independent would disappear if the ACC did.
