I appreciate what Ruiz does for the program, but he likes to brag and boast and attract attention. He made similar comments weeks ago. There's oftentimes a lack of substance to him so take what he says appropriately.

Excellent write-up. We have had such bad coaching for so long, that a good chunk of this board thinks we need some innovative genius running the latest trend/s to win games. We have forgotten that competent, professional coaching alone is sufficient to be a consistent winner.

That's a little unfair to say. Whipple had to suffer under Randy. Jedd at least had Al Golden under the helm who was a crappy fit but light years ahead of Randy. It's hard to look good when the head man in charge has no business being there.

Agreed. There are a lot of folks here that think Mario is a caveman. Yet, the fact he's apparently targeting younger OCs (Candle is 43; Hartline is 36; Gattis is 39) suggest to me he's open to more modern philosophies.

IMO, after having failed with a younger candidate with limited playcalling experience, I think Mario's knee-jerk reaction is to go the opposite way and hire someone older with demonstrated experience calling plays. If I had to guess, I'd predict a more senior guy.
