We've missed the vertical element all year. Beck took a bunch of shots in the Fiesta Bowl that didn't connect. Jacobs thrives in that role.

Everybody says he has a great work ethic. Academic All-SEC, too. We have a great culture in the WR room this year and we can't afford to lose that.

South Carolina hated to lose this guy and I understand why. The arrow is pointing up.
Getting another Leader and hard worker for that room needs to be key to go along with him.
If we're gunna money ball that room around Toney, it's fine. I think if Trader returns and actually practices hard and improves between Jacobs, him, and Moore+Upshaw, and at least one freshman getting around 20 targets (like Moore/Trader did this year), then It's good. but need depth and leadership - even if it's a depth guy...

WR Vandrevius Jacobs has committed to the Miami Hurricanes. Jacobs is a 6-foot, 182-pound pass catcher from Vero Beach, Florida, and will join Miami after a breakout season with the South Carolina Gamecocks. He began his collegiate career at Florida State before transferring to South Carolina. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Jacobs appeared in 12 games for South Carolina in 2025, making six starts and emerging as one of the team’s top receiving options. He led the Gamecocks with 32 receptions for 548 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 17.1 yards per catch. Over the course of the 2025 season, he posted three 100-yard receiving games and recorded scoring receptions of 35, 49, 50 and a career-long 74 yards.

After naming Jacobs a team captain, South Carolina coach Shane Beamer said “all that kid does is just work."

In 2024, Jacobs caught 12 passes for 181 yards while appearing in nine games and earning a starting nod in several contests, including matchups with Old Dominion, LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma. He also played as a true freshman at Florida State in 2023, totaling three receptions for 60 yards and one touchdown.

Prior to his college career, Jacobs was a standout at Vero Beach High School in Florida, where he amassed 149 receptions for 2,320 yards and 31 touchdowns over two seasons, including a senior year with 100 catches for 1,511 yards and 21 scores.

So the only way we will take any former F$U players is if they are laundered by another university first?

That works for me.

Probably my favorite portal guy we will get. Super high on him, i think a leap can be otw if he gets more targets, we already have our #1 and dawson offense is slot oriented but this guy will do damage and flash alot

If we do get another wr it should be a tuff experienced vet that can be reliable on money downs like daniels and marion. I would say a name i wouldn’t mind coming back but its unlikely so i wont

Those misses were all on Beck!

I see a few guys going back and Horton would be a perfect fit if the price was right.

Got this from a USCe fan:

Speed guy, plenty of long speed with good, sudden cuts. Pretty good hands too, and he’s developed his route running a fair bit. Main weakness is that he’s on the lean side, so he can get pushed around a bit by more physical DBs, but he’s good right now and has a lot of upside beyond that.

Not to be negative but i hope Trader gets a big pay cut (unless that already happened last year) until he proves he can contribute. Not much money shouod be tied up with him as he hasn't done anything.

And take #1 from him
