As an FYI, that 4.79 40-yd was electronically timed, outdoors on field turf, at 70 degrees. There was nothing on The Opening's website regarding wind conditions, but only 1 person ran sub-4.5 (a 4.48 was the best time) that day. Mallory was also there and ran a 4.68, though Mallory actually weighed in 6 lbs. lighter than Ezzard despite measuring in 3 inches taller. Joshua Vann, a very solid 4* who is generally considered the best WR recruit in the state and weighed 177 at the Opening, ran a 4.69 (he only rated about 6 Nike points better overall and Ezzard had a better 20-yd shuttle time). If you watch Vann's highlights, he's running by a lot of guys on vertical routes.

Based on all of that, it may have just been a slow track day for whatever reason. If you had Ezzard run indoors on hard turf or a track (like they do at the NFL Combine), I wouldn't be surprised if he ran in the low to mid 4.6 range. Still not "fast," but more than adequate "track speed" for a p5 WR.

good points but remember, his personal best at a 100m track event is 13s.

That’s terrible.

Worse than terrible. Atrocious is probably a better fit.

On film in pads he looks much faster

In regards to his speed it looks good on film, as for actual times I am more concerned about his 10 & 20 yard splits as he is not going to be stretching the field.

If he was truly slow I don't think they would be trying to bring him on, and we could use some toughness at the wr spot

Ezzard running an electronic 4.79 is fine given his game and size.

Boldin was an electronic 4.8 and Landry was electronic 4.7. He plays a similar style.

Par will lose his mind over this...

Go Canes!

Fitzgerald, Alston Jeffery, Sidney Rice, Kelvin Benjamin mold. Not going to fly by you, but big body, and a bully to DBs

TBH only reason I like him despite his speed, which almost makes him not Miami quality, is his strength. Unlike Cager who is just big but lacks any strength, I think he's a guy that will get dirty. And despite being slow enough to get taken off the board entirely, I think we could really use that aspect of his game.

Still would rather have some other Florida WRs over him, but whatever

I keep hearing Ezzard being compared to big WRs who have had great success. How big is Ezzard legit?

He looks like a good player, but the competition is doodoo. Ray Lewis III looked like Barry Sanders in his highlights. Like I said, he looks good, but some of you guys are acting like there is zero to debate on him.

I think he's 6'2" 213 lbs.

Thanks. If that’s his legit measurements then he’s a big dude.

Initially I didnt think we needed a 4th wr. But I have a feeling that at least one of langham or Harris will transfer out, seeing as they graduate this year and can transfer with no penalty. I don't see both of them wanting to sit behind Richards for their rs-sr years.
If they both leave, we are left with only 5 returning wrs including njoku who is recovering from an acl plus the 3 incoming commits. Makes sense why richt is looking for a 4th wr. My faves for that spot are Elijah Moore and Dominick Wyatt (that Austin kid looks soft to me and Thornton is Ice's boy good luck getting a btw kid lol).

Cager is stronger than you you faqqit. Oysters want to attack players and think it's cool.

It’s not the best competition but it defintiely ain’t the worst in Georgia. He plays in 5A which still has a ton of good schools. Georgia has a lot of schools in lower classifications that have tons of d1 prospects in 3A,4A or what have you. Take national power house Buford for an example they have multiple d1 athletes every year but were a 3A school. All I’m going to say it’s a lot of ballers in this area of Georgia period

That is girl speed

Why are people hating on this pickup as the 4th!!! WR in this class. If he develops it’s a **** of a steal. If he can’t create separation he will be gone in two years. We have 3 other ballers coming at WR this year so it’s a win win.

So long as he plays his size and is physical, I'm not concerned about his straight ahead speed. We really need a big receiver who consistently plays big.

Every commit we steal from free shoes is an outstanding job by this staff, IMHO...
