It aint all about speed. I dont have a problem with the take. He is different from all the wrs on the roster. Can be a big slot.

He's quick , not fast . Good acceleration but so so top end. But he plays in a phone booth, hard to tackle in space. Mix that in with his physicality/ breaking tackles, he'll have a bunch of yac.

Ezzard is the type to turn a hitch , curl , or slant into a big gainer after making the first guy miss.

As an FYI, that 4.79 40-yd was electronically timed, outdoors on field turf, at 70 degrees. There was nothing on The Opening's website regarding wind conditions, but only 1 person ran sub-4.5 (a 4.48 was the best time) that day. Mallory was also there and ran a 4.68, though Mallory actually weighed in 6 lbs. lighter than Ezzard despite measuring in 3 inches taller. Joshua Vann, a very solid 4* who is generally considered the best WR recruit in the state and weighed 177 at the Opening, ran a 4.69 (he only rated about 6 Nike points better overall and Ezzard had a better 20-yd shuttle time). If you watch Vann's highlights, he's running by a lot of guys on vertical routes.

Based on all of that, it may have just been a slow track day for whatever reason. If you had Ezzard run indoors on hard turf or a track (like they do at the NFL Combine), I wouldn't be surprised if he ran in the low to mid 4.6 range. Still not "fast," but more than adequate "track speed" for a p5 WR.

Ask jerry Rice about how important a 4.4 40 is for a WR. This will be a great addition to the class as a 4th WR. Y’all are getting spoiled. Richt has us getting 4 stars as our 4th and 5th best players at positions. WR and CB.

If it were up to 80% of the shmucks on here we would take nothing but 5’7” slot receivers or convert every big WR into a TE. Ezzard is a stud. Physically imposing WR who can make tough plays. Need guys like this

He will be a Cane. He is already interacting with our players on Twitter.

One thing that stood out to me in Ezzard's film was how big his hands are. He can palm the football with ease. Couple that with his good size and bully mentality, he can be a very nice asset to improve our 3rd down conversion rate and red zone TD %.

well he practically already wears a Miami hurricane uniform down at southridge, so pretty comfortable move for him

good points but remember, his personal best at a 100m track event is 13s.

Hahaha, if Ezzard ever had to run 109.3 yards in a straight line on a football field, that might concern me a little.

Anyone who watches this kid play and doesn't think a player like that could help us are loco.

Right.

He’s clearly got strong short area quickness and acceleration.....that’s all he needs to get open. He’s also tough as ****.

I would be more concerned about the 40 if he was less quick.

Lock him up Dugans. Would be a nice pickup for that 4th WR spot.

Sign of the times when we are debating taking a consensus 4 star receiver, with a great offer list, has great size, played against good comp, as our 4th receiver in the class. Guys like this would have been headlining an Al Golden-led recruiting cycle.
