I agree with this, but there is zero defense for that fact that the gameplan and overall conservative nature as well as not tying in SIGNIFICANT play action volume is fully on the coaches period. They have elected to go for a slow paced conservative offense with legit ZERO ability to generate explosive plays - BY DESIGN. Period. I get you hate Beck. But you can absolutely design an offense to win and execute 10x better than we have with Beck. Period. You can absolutely win with game managers and guys that are more "1 read". You can absolutely win with a more heavy ground based attack. I've never really cared about the Run: Pass ratio all that much. If we want to run the **** out of the ball I don't generally have a problem with that. But no matter what you need to generate explosive plays. And I said all offseason that if we were going with Beck who has never been a very big-play Qb, then we needed to change our Run game to generate explosive runs. This staff utterly failed to do so and have been complete pussies along the way.

I fully agree that it seems given Mario being a conservative ***** and Dawsons offense, we absolutely NEED a Cam/Baker/Mahomes style QB. One that is a playmaker and ALPHA that literally gives Mario no ******* option to not be aggressive. Finding that QB in the portal imo has become the MOST critical thing about this football program. LIke I literally think everything hinges on that at this point. The type of QB you usually like are definitely the type we need next year for those factors. Doesn't seem like a Riaola or anything will be available. I'm not at all sold on Sellers... Idk whos gunna be available, but we better land a gunslinger/improvisor... Right Now I've been wanting Sorsby or Mestemaker but we'll see...

Like Look at the trend in the NFL. 12 personnel With a ****ton of play action for high y/a passes. Teams are going heavy against 12 and when they overreact to your heavy run usage, you hit them with ******* play action. It's literally what the ******* Seahawks are doing with Sam Darnold. Sure Darnold has a better arm, is he THAT much of a different qb than Beck? The Seahawks have a garbage run game too yet Their offense is ******* working. Toney can Absolutely be the JSN fill in... Look at the past 4 years of the Lions with Goff? Heavy ******* play action with a lot of 12 personnel... This year their offense is having a little less success because they are behaving a little more like us with morton of just running ******* dive every 1st down...

Teams are committed 7/8 in the box and overcommitting to the Run.... And we don't ******* run practically any play action, I swear. And Honestly I get Dawsons offense doesn't do under center really, but this type of gameplan and conservative style just works better under center or at least using pistol...yet...
Yea they either need to be more scripted and varied or else spread people out and run the Heupel thing where it is just an RPO or a vertical choice route + going fast so defense has trouble setting up.

They are kinda eating the disadvantage of simplicity without the tempo and spacing that is empowered by the simplicity and then eating the crowded boxes without the complexity and sequencing and execution to optimize the condensed stuff.

What are we to make of the "let it rip" mantra?

I'm entertained by the excuses.

4 games left, do any of the "It's not Beck's fault!" guys think he won't throw anymore picks for the rest of the season?

I'd love to see an argument made that he won't & how that will happen.
It’s not Beck fault?
He’s certainly been not good. Has he been the main problem? I don’t think so. Who didn’t know what type of player Beck was before he joined this roster? Whose job is it to design an offense that works to his strengths and minimizes his weaknesses?
The Oline by themselves are probably ranked 100th in penalties in the nation.

There were many people and I was one of them that said we didn't need a recruiter because those days are over. One of the knocks against Lane was he couldn't recruit which really doesn't matter in the NIL era
then lane went out and beat us for prospects in every recruiting cycle and transfer cycle.

All the built in vig because guys were mario bros and wanted him for the jump the fallacies i called out each and everytime his name came up for hc.

1.) gotta be able to recruit, lane cant recruit.
2.) the money will be gone with him and only comes with him as coach

tHESE 2 ARE/WERE MYTHS.

* I stated if sh*t hits the fan at the end of the day...Lane kiffin can draw up a play...manny diaz can run his whole defensive unit...i said if we run into trouble what exactly can mario do?.....and i always got crickets. He cant draw up a play or even get his ol to stop false starting. IF Shannon dawson became sick one day And couldnt coach i literally think we would have an analyst or some sh*t call plays. lol

Of course it’s his fault. But Dawson ain’t doing him any favors running that stupid condensed set look.

This season is a disaster-

It’s mind boggling that this offense is this bad-

The OL regression is troubling because Mario and Mirabal are supposed to be guru’s -

Recruiting mistakes at WR is glaring-

TE has been a problem all year-

8-4 on the horizon-

Confidence in Mario is dwindling-

Year 4 with his contract-These are the results -

Please.

The people thinking Beck won't throw more picks are the same people who think we won't lose more games.

- Who didn't know what type of player Beck was before he joined the roster...

At least 80% of the board. Go reread any & every thread about him before the season started, there may have been 2 or 3 people max, who didn't expect Beck to be a Heisman candidate & #1 draft pick. The overwhelming majority of the board had Beck as the best or at the very least top 3 QB's in the Nation.

The Offense IS designed to work to his strengths & minimize his weaknesses, that's why we run the ball so much & have simplified everything in terms of the route patterns & play call sequences after the initial scripted first drive.

This isn't the same Offense as last year because there's an entire chapter in the playbook that cannot be called because Beck can't make certain throws. The Seam patterns, Outside Deep Digs, Posts are all gone from this year because Beck can't read the Rover. The Dagger concept made his brain glitch against Florida. We can't run Sails, or Scissors at all because he's been baited due to his bad eye discipline.

So last year it was Mike Bobo's fault, the WR's fault, the RB's fault & the OL's fault. Now it's Dawson & the OL's fault? The Elite OL with multiple 1st rounders... The supposed best OL in the Nation?

You know why he's running that stupid condensed look?

BECAUSE THE QB CAN ONLY THROW CERTAIN ROUTES & ISN'T READING THE DEFENSE.

Do you think Dawson just decided out of nowhere to go from the #1 Offense in the Nation last year, to just play in a phonebooth this year for no reason at all?

The Offense is the way it is because the QB has handicapped it.
