We need depth. We are short at wide receiver and corner, which are the two most plentiful and battle-tested positions in the region.

We don't need a team of them but we need depth. We are short at wide receiver and corner, which are the two most plentiful and battle-tested positions in the region.

We need to have depth with stud players, look at the elite teams they are stacked, **** look at the legendary canes teams there werent any tier 2 kids, we kept stacking over and over again with studs, FSU today loaded up nasty with talent look at that bench, look at bama, LSU, OSU, clemson, we need to be like those teams to win

You can't go straight from losing to Cincinatti to stacking studs on studs. We need to win a little first. This team needs depth at WR and CB now.

You lost two receivers so adding three is actually a new gain. Richards and Mullens are as good as Antonio Callaway coming off of high school in my opinion. Bruce gives us some chops at slot. We'll make due at corner. Elder, Redwine and Jackson can play in this defense. Just to keep them healthy.

I hear you but we wont win a title without the studs, if we have a team filled with those tier 2 kids and face it with a bama or a clemson or even a FSU team we wont win, its all about stacking up its a arms race

Yep. Wiggins was a take for this very reason. Whiffing on CBs has set us back two years at that position. Unless we can get a couple studs that can play right away in 2017. Not good

Miami won a national title in 1991 with Eric Miller and Anthony Hamlet as it starting defensive tackles. Think about that a second. Lubick was smart enough to figure out how to get the two defensive ends and the Bermuda Triangle to cover for them. We'll get there. But coaching matters.

Just saw Romeo's post signing tv interview. Tells me a couple things. Kid is well spoken, old school CANE, said he has been a life long CANE fan & Richt recruited him by saying he wants to bring the old school winning ways back. Kid said he lit up when he heard that & wanted to be a part of it. First commit west of tally since 95's Ty Wise. Richt will get it done next year on the field & in February!!!

That 91 team was stacked everywhere else though, we cant win with tier 2 kids mane, look at the 2000s teams, the 80s teams, now lets look at the top teams now, we need to match talent with talent

Excellent post. Wish we would have stayed on Wiggins.

d i understand what u are saying with phillips and wiggins. the problem is richt clearly didn't think they were good enough to make an impact. sure they would of been depth guys but al golden took to many guys just to take guys.

id rather have a smaller class with much fewer projects then a 25 man class but 10 projects. and richt may be wrong but he and his staff felt wiggins and phillips weren't good enough to play or be impact players at miami so they dropped them.

it sucks to lose byrd, it sucks to lose williams. they ended up though getting ammon richards and zach mcloud to recommit, they got terick martin who coach kool liked enough to offer at missou, and ended up with bethel also.

i think was a solid first class. sure usc and georgia had higher ranked classes but georgia had like 20 guys commited under richt and lost 1. malek young to miami, usc had same staff pretty much recruting for the whole year.

i perfer richt dropping guys like wiggins if he feels arent miami quality then just sign them to have a body at a positon of need.

More importantly, this group seems like it has several leaders within. I think that's something we've been lacking for a while...good team leadership. Hopefully these guys will step up and do just that.

I have to wonder if the misses on the plan B guys mentioned here (Wiggins, et al) were, to some extent the result of the staff not having a full recruiting season to sweep the marketplace.

We can assume that Richt had knowledge of the A List guys given that he was at UGA last season. However, the B list south Florida kids are likely the ones he and his staff at UGA were not on.

Just a thought.

Dont get me wrong shaq, mccloud, bruce, richards are elite but we need more, im hoping we get that in 2017 and keep it going and become what we used to be

It's the wrong place for it, this being the recruiting board and all, but none of this **** matters.

Building a winning program is so much more than recruiting rankings. The fate of Mack Brown, Ton Zook, and Lane Kiffin tells that plain as day. And Miami has been recruiting well above on-field performance for quite some time anyway. Which is like putting a ring on a hot chick's finger but never getting to ****. No CoaRstal title has almost nothing to do with getting beat by FSU, Bama, or UF in the final composite rankings.

So trite, but just ******* win.

did the staff go awol on jawon hamilton? kid is a stud

didn't want him for whatever reason. grades/ character, or felt he just didn't fit what they wanted at rb. homer is a better player. they said bye bye to wiggins and snelson and others who they didn't think fit the type of player miami should land.

this staff will not take projects just to add bodies.

In a way, G. Willis can be considered part of this class since he is now eligible to play. He could end up being a difference maker on the DL.
