I have this feeling that our guys are gonna come out playing ****ed off next season. Something we haven't seen in a long time. We have some competitive MFers like Cager, Korn, and Redwine, etc. who are gonna be great leaders with chips on their shoulders

We got played by Byrd and failed to find a stud DT, but other than that I can't see what everyone is complaining about.

This is clearly and incredible class. Even the 3 stars are potential studs.

Great post D Money. I like the kids we got. Sucks to lose a few guys and see FSU clean up again but we will be fine. There's a lot of talent in this program right now.

I don't think he forgot how to recruit. But it IS different recruiting at Miami than it is at a $EC school where bagmen close the deal for you.

I would like to see Richt offer and accept commitments from the tier 2 south florida players, and leave room for a few studs on signing day. You mentioned Wiggins for example. Perfect example here. Chasing stars at Miami has never been the way. U can build a top 10 team with all the south florida kids the Big 3 doesn't want: see Louisville for proof. Point being, Miami is at it's best when we build depth by recruiting a ton of athletes from our backyard, regardless if they have 5 stars next to their name. Depth is much more important than winning NSD when your depth is a bunch of SoFla savages.

I'd like to see an approach more akin to Howard, JJ, and Butch. This way, you don't put all your eggs in the basket of a kid who may end up getting a bag of cash to leave you at the alter.

Agree with a lot of this... but I don't feel like the staff put all their eggs in one basket w CB. We went after a lot of CBs - they all told Rumph to fvck off.

Richt has said he's not going to take a guy just to take a guy. Pierre would have been an example of that.

I don't mind saving the schollies for next class. I want a rebuild, not a quick fix patch up job.

I feel good about Richt because he WILL (as oppose to talk about it) recruit the balls out of dade/broward/palm.

We're alright.

(I think that's what I read)

Some of you guys are total clowns....

Comparing todays high school landscape to yester-years is retarded. SFL is now the most evaluated place in the world. Richt got here when high school football season was almost over and you complain about recruiting off of highlight tapes. Your bias is blinding you clowns. You own logic contradicts itself. Recruiting is about relationships and months and years of evaluation. Neither of which did Richt have time to take on. You also use bag men like its a fact. You have no idea how that chit takes hold or how prevalent it is at Miami or any other school in the country. This claim that they got it but we dont is whining crybaby shiat. Butch was an absolute failure at UNC. Just give that shiat up or find a new team or just burn your own sorry ask down.

As fans this class has some freaking studs and if you add to that Willis its sick.

As a fan I am stoked with all things considered and we are in a better place now then we have been in for years. If you cant see that then you aint a fan but rather a whining ****** which truley means you dont have the swag to be Miami fan. Face it you aint Miami material.

Again, I look at in the following perspective.

Linebacker: You lose Kirby and replace with Quarterman, Pinckey and McCloud
Wide Receiver: You Scott and Waters and replace with Richards, Mullens and Bruce
Safety: You lose Bush and Crawford and replace with Finley, Wright and James
DT: You lose Hertelou and Kamalu and replace with Martin and Bethel
DE: You lose McCord and replace with Jackson
Corner: You lose Burns and Howard and replace with Young.

You like to have another corner or two, but I don't think you take Wiggins if you don't think he can help immediately. If there is one position protected the most in Diaz's defense it's corner. We'll need to sign 3 studs next year.

Love the optimism, and hope all expectations will be exceeded. I'm not sure where the 20th rank is coming from. Scout has us ranked nationally at 37 and 6th in the ACC. I don't understand why we only recruited 18. I don't understand why we could only recruit one at DT, and one on the OL, and too few at CB.

I think we are going into next season the same as in the near past - with too little depth at key positions. Coaching will have to be the difference compared to the past. And lastly, I wish we would stop making a point to bad mouth Golden. Some of the new recruits were signed on by his regime. Be thankful for that. He did his best after arriving here at a very inopportune time. That should not be ignored. He ran a clean program, and that's important going forward. Time goes in one direction, and that's where we should be focusing, in my humble opinion.

ESPN: 19th
247: 20th
Rivals: 21st
? You only used one source, a source that most don't even use.

We took 18 because 2017 is loaded and it gives Richt a chance to bring in more of his type of guys. Would you rather sign 4-5 more unknown players in this class or a potential top 10 class with 25+ players after a 9+ win season next year?

You can't understand why we couldn't recruit well? Look at who was our coach for the last 5 years and allowed the worse loss in the history of the school. Sorry but history is going to play a big part in recruits' decisions especially for a team that has severely under-performed they way we did under Golden. He was a horrible HC that went from HC to TE coach LOL. I can guarantee Richt and the staff will have this team looking totally different leaving people questioning why Golden was even here.

The biggest black eye on this program is not having a stadium. Until we fix that permanent problem, then we will unfortunately struggle to ever truly "be back."

Did the coaches even take the kids to SLS? So sad.

This is the truth.

Gerald Willis is a stud dt

Bingo. Most of our fans think just because Richt has won in the SEC and has proverbial top 10 classes that he is going to magically pull in a top 10 class a month after assembling his staff at a school that has been down for 10 years.

Well if you look at Martin and Bethel as two kids who will grow into tackles then you may take a different perspective. I like the fact that Kool wants to convert defensive ends into tackles. That's how Miami used to do it. Make linebackers into defensive ends, make defensive ends into tackles (or tight ends (Sapp) into tackles). Both Martin and Bethel are 265 pounds right now. You've got Norton, Moten, Jenkins, Willis and McIntosh so you don't have to rush these two. Get them to put on good weight. I'm not so sure Thomas doesn't move inside as well.

Not having a stadium has ZERO to do with Miami has struggled or why recruits decided to go other places. Cannot believe people think a stadium has any bearing on a recruit.

The biggest black eyes is not winning a result of poor coaching for over a decade. That's it.

FSU does not win with Tier 2 Florida recruits. They are signing some of the best.

Allison
Richards
Homer
Bruce
Joe Jackson
Shaq
MaCloud

Need 9 more high level guys like this every year if you want to win the ACC and go to the playoffs.

We didn't take guys just to fill the class and we landed some studs. It was a good first class for Richt. I can't wait until Spring.

We gotta recruit nationally to be elite again, lock up SoFl should be a priority yes but we need more than that, look at FSU they get kids from everywhere, we need to have a steady mix of both to win

All of this is from 247's database and rankings.

To add to iLoveTDs numbers, Miami has more in-state Top 50 players. There are factors there, and its skewed to FSU at the very top (three Top 10 players in-state to Miami's none), but that is a nice number for Miami, even in a transition class. With a full year, Miami's number increases.

But, I was interested in seeing how Miami fared in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach.

Miami was the obvious leader in the clubhouse with 7 commits from the Top 30 in the tri-county area. The next closest were FSU and Michigan with three each. However, something that is especially alarming but common sense, 17 different schools poached Top 30 talent from the Tri-State area and only five non-Cane commits went to FSU or UF. Moreso than keeping FSU and UF at arms length (which, to be fair, I've always been able to handle, as in-state recruits staying in-state always makes sense), keeping the cherry picking to more of a minimum is a must, not just for Miami, but for all of the Big Three and there needs to be more of an effort by the powers at each of those schools to keep the Michigans, the USCs, the Ohio States, the Tennessees, etc. out of the area. Michigan having their Spring Game down here needs to be bombarded with a fly over with banner. Have more of a presence at the big schools like St. Thomas so you can keep Urban at bay. Put a hit out on USCs local bag man. I don't know, but a concerted effort to keep the squads out needs to take place. Its getting too easy for random P5 squads to poach, and this is in an era where FSU and UF have had dominant stretches.

With that said, I can't emphasize at how worthless Mario is at Alabama. Outside of getting Amari Cooper, Alabama's presence in South Florida has been kept to a minimum, even if you consider them getting Eddie Jackson as a win for them (it was, despite no one really having a commitable offer out to him due to grades, because he's been a pretty good player).
