I don't either, but if Irvin gets kicked out we'd be left with Polendey & walk-on Malik Curry as the only real TE's on the roster.

I'm not sold on Patchan being a legit TE, so they should at least look at a Grad Transfer next year, wouldn't affect the scholly count.

Jordan and Mallory won't show up on campus til June/July 2018, a Grad Transfer would provide solid veteran Depth until Fall camp.

El, I'd be straight with cross training Langham to be a Njoku WR/TE hybrid and rolling with Polendey and Curry just until the Fall. Brevin is GAME READY and will be a Day 1 starter. Why waste an 85 ship on a spring practice Greentree body?
I don't need any convincing about Brevin Jordan, I was literally the first person to ever post on him on this Board.

Langham ain't moving to TE, and a Grad Transfer doesn't take up a scholly & he wouldn't be just a Greentree body.

The reason for it would be as a contingency plan, also adds a Senior TE who can provide depth & solid blocking.

I'm not arguing that someone should be brought in to start over Jordan or Mallory, I'm saying we could use another guy for depth, just like we could have at RB this year.

Brock was the same one championing our unproven depth at RB during the offseason. Everyone knew what we had with Walton and that Homer had high upside, but after that we had crap. When fans voiced their concerns, he thought we were good. Now, we've had to revamp our whole offseason because Walton actually went down. With this situation at TE - its rinse and repeat.

Our offense has been BETTER since Walton went out off the simple fact it forced richt to be more creative

You say some really crazy things, but this might take the cake.

How does Alabama get guts like Jonathan Allen and Reuben Foster to come back for their senior seasons and we have guys jumping ship asap?

I know a few are very special, but we've seen a buttload of our players who left early - and crapped their own nest.

You'd think players would really weigh that decision thoroughly, and realize that in most situations that patience and develpment is a virtue.

Coach Kool - another year with him - could be worth additional hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in the NFL.

Irvin , polendy, patchan, curry for the spring. No need to add a juco te when we have 2 elite tight end prospects coming in. 1 that will be ready for day 1... pete you sure about that regarding Jordan not being able to early enroll at Bishop Gorman? I’m pretty sure tate martell just did that at Ohio State and he came from Bishop Gorman as well last year

what in the world makes you sure Irvin is going to even be on the team? too many bad indications he won't be. they should absolutely look at a juco TE or grad transfer. and yes that is with how good jordan and mallory will probably be. better safe than sorry.

Take your lumps, you can’t kick off mike Irvin son on the team. We have enough with Jordan and Mallory. No need to add someone who won’t play just for depth in the spring period. It would be a dumb move

If Michael Irvin's son or Jesus Christ himself won't do the work they can't be on this team. No special exemptions. F who your daddy is, who are you? Sends a terrible message that Haskins can be booted but the spawn of a prominent alumnus is not held to the same standards. He has a legacy and an even bigger responsibility to carry on the legacy correctly. If he can't he can go play frat league intramurals

Ideally that's how you would want the world to work, but in practice, Jr will get all the chances he could possibly get, barring a serious infraction.

No, every man is equal and held to the same standards of responsibility. If you want to wear THE U on your helmet, you'll make weight, make times, do what you need to in the classroom, run, lift, and get treatment. I don't care if your dad is the President of the United States or a janitor at a prison. The standard is supreme. F anyone who won't carry the weight.

So.

May I assume that Irvin is NOT eligible for a scholastic scholarship?

In the spring is time for POLENDY, PATCHAN to get alot of reps.

**** not sure if Irving would be a grades casualty then...so lets see. Dont think we need another te in the class though

Why do you say a grad transfer wouldn't affect the scholarship count? Grad transfer will get a scholarship especially at Miami. Don't think a Grad Transfer will be paying their own way. Dee Delaney is counting against this year's count.

It doesn't affect us long term. Grad transfer can only play one year.

a Grad Transfer doesn't take up a scholly

Sorry but this isn't correct. Any player with a scholarship counts toward the 85. Only walk-ons who have been at Miami for 2 years and get a ship avoid the counter toward the class (25). All transfers count toward both the total and the class.

Perhaps a poor choice of words then. That wasn't the statement.

Chill with your brock fetishes, gents. Ruining yet another thread. Just freaking ignore him and let the rest of us read in peace.

I hope we start showing strong interest in Juco and potential GT TEs right away. You can't have 1 scholarship TE on roster with two incoming freshmen, even if they are the best TE recruiting tandem in the country. And we are probably a coin toss away from that scenario right now.

TBH, despite his historic pedigree, I'm surprised Irvin is still on this team. Wasn't he part of the Sam Bruce, Ced Wright, Haskins crew that got into trouble multiple times last year? IIRC, he was suspended for the Bowl game or some other important game, too? My guess is he was probably the "least bad" offender and is a good kid at heart. But he's got to be on his last lifeline right now with Pastor Richt.

It’s not complicated. You gotta have three TE’s +. Whether he remains on the roster or not, we can’t count on Jr. We need a juco or grad transfer.

BTW, great info, Pete. I think we all would really like to know more on the DL and LB front once you have any additional intel to share.

Will Friersom or Gurvan enroll early? Absolutely terrible news that Jobe won't. We need help back there big time.

Once Norton gets the "neither" opinion from the Draft Advisory Board, he will hopefully wise up and return to school. We are going to need him badly next year.

I can't see Norton going later than the 3rd/4th. But, being a day 3 draft pick isn't worth leaving early.

I feel like mcintosh has been more impactful than norton this season so he has a case this season. Norton has been playing better lately but he really got to turn it up the last half of the season

Disappointed that the TEs and key DBs won’t be enrolling early

Thanks.

I think Nesta wants to wait til February because he wants to see whether mcintosh and Norton declare for the draft. Maybe Nesta wants a decent shot at being one of the top 4 DTs and knows that likely won't happen if either or both of those guys return.

Norton leaning towards leaving.

So can I presume that McIntosh is leaning toward staying?

I would guess that one has nothing to do with the other. I’m guessing they’re both most likely gone esp if they maintain their level of play
