Folks
We have mediocre players
That’s all
We are what we are
We have C Flagg as a Mike
We have Stevenson and Ivey at CB
We have NO PaSS RUSHERS
We have immobile QB who played decent but yards without points don’t mean chit
We have one average RB in the ole miss kid
We have 5 at WR who is prob most explosive player but he’s average when looking at other programs
We have a big TE that can’t block me
We have a FAT soft Oline that can’t beat up on anyone
And we have a kicker whose not half as good as his brother

Yeah the play calls are t great but players make plays

We dont have good players and it will be proven when the NFL draft occurs

Georgia puts 11 defensive guys in NFL and they got 11 more

We need a new roster
UTSA and UAB wanted me to tell you that they said hello 👋🏾

Great to see TVD back. that INT a the end was disappointing but almost 500yds and 3tds is an amazing come back for him. the loss stinks but if the offense continues this it will get better.

Gattis may leave next year but won’t be for that reason.
You maybe right. And he and Mario may tihnk the bigger problem this year is personnel as opposed to scheme. And they maybe right in the long run. But i think Gattis will need to show scoring improvement inside the 20 to keep his job.

Disagree. Hes playing without his best OL and LT. They‘ve improved but hes not turning chicken **** into chicken salad. Could you imagine last year being down 4 OL and what the result would’ve been? He wasn’t turning this group into maulers in six months lol.

I agree however as a counter point- the OL generally needed to be re-tooled like the DL was via the portal. At multiple positions the staff chose not to make any meaningful additions. We simply added the bottom of the Oregon depth chart & expected coaching to solve all the problems on the OL when anyone with a brain could also see we had personnel issues there that still remain.

Fair

Yes, he dropped a key pass late that would’ve kept a drive alive.

But for all the hate he gets on here, he played well once the coaches decided to have him catch instead of block.

What a surprise…
He made some really tough catches too. TVD was a bit off the mark to start the game and Mallory made some awkward ones. Mallory and our receivers helped TVD get into rhythm which was nice

A few of those drive may never happen if they don’t help him out and get him going

That drop was rough

We did still pick up the 1st down on that drive didn’t we? On 4th? Or did my brain block that out

I honestly feel that we beat ourselves in this game. That's my main takeaway.

That one hurt...that one hurt bad. The Kinchens bust, the Knighton fumble, and to a lower degree, the Mallory drop..... were all key factors to us losing the game. The Huff block in the back on BSmith big punt return hurt as well, completely changed the field position we would’ve gained.

In order for us to win, we cannot beat ourselves. The transformation of this program is happening in front of us, and unfortunately, no pain no gain.

The red zone execution will come. I think after the adjustments made to the offensive showing, our kids now believe in the system...which is huge for recruiting as well.

Didn’t we go after Steen(chose bama), FIU OL(chose LSU), Virgina guy (Chose Michigan I think). We went after a lot of guys and they chose other places

No one can argue it isn’t personnel but I think the same can be said about the scheme. Particularly, our philosophy. Not sure how open minded Mario is and how long he will try to force this “run” the ball first approach but I am pleased we opened things up yesterday.

Game 7:

The Good:

Colbie Young - What a great story this kid has become. Truly & Clearly have emerged as WR1

The 1st Drive - Showed diversity, ingenuity, & rhythm.

The Initial Response After Half Time - Came out & showed fight, put us in position to seize control of the game.

The Bad:

4th Down & Short Offense - We were gifted one that looked very questionable, but the lack of push to get a few feet or just the play calling in those situations were awful.

Money Down Defense - Duke is 64th & 65th in money down conversion %; Miami’s Def is 48th in 3rd down defense, but 120th in 4th down def. Getting off the field has been a staple of Miami football for a good while, now; but, it especially hurts when u’re trying to either stem a tide or maintain momentum.

The Ugly:

Discipline Issues - Last week it was penalties; this week, turnovers. I haven’t seen this amount of turnovers in a single game by a Canes’ team in, maybe ever. 8 Turnovers, technically 10 if we count the two turnovers on downs. That’s unheard of in today’s landscape of football. Who knows what the outcome of the game would’ve been if Knighton didn’t fumble as we were driving, giving Duke the momentum. Regardless, that one fumble did not cause the other 7 TO’s

Knighton & The Running Game - This is two part.
1. Knighton has a major fumbling issue, & no, this has nothing to do w/ Mario. He’s been having a fumbling issue since Day 1 on campus. He may be lightning in a bottle, but he can’t be trusted.

2. The running game went from a strength to non existent. Duke is 65th against the run, & they looked like the Steel Curtain out there. There’s no creativity, no push, & now it’s made this team one dimensional. Since we lack consistent playmakers on the outside sans Young, it allows the defense to pin their ears back.

The OL - I’m not sure y some thought this was going to be a decent unit. Yes, against inferior competition to start the year, they looked like Tarzan, & even against A&M, they looked good, but it’s been downhill ever since. Injuries have played a role, sure, but the lack of recruiting at this position over several classes have showed its ***. Eventually I knew this unit would get a QB killed; well, it got King killed last yr & TVD killed this yr.

The Play Calling & Clock Mgmt - I get it; we’re trying to set up the run which will open up other things, but I’m not understanding how for two weeks in a row, we start out well, fluid, cohesive, & almost immediately, we go back into this dogmatic, sludge of an offense. Furthermore, this is my 2nd time yelling at Mario for these slow developing plays AT THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE! We’re down 2 score & we’re running a 4 minute offense w/ 12 mins on the clock! Why r we hiking the ball w/ 3 secs on the clock, CONTINUOUSLY??!

The Team - One of my biggest issues w/ Miami Football (And I’m not sure if I’ll refer to them as The U until we show we’re the only University that matters in Football) is this defeatist attitude. The slumped shoulders, the going through the motions, **** poor efforts in tackling…I mean, they look soft & unworthy to wear The O&G.

The Field - Fck Ross & this stadium. 2nd time they pulled this chit w/ the grounds crew end zone. If The Eagles & Steelers’ ground crew could have the decency to change the EZ to fit Pitt & Temple for their games & then change it to The Steelers & Eagles for their games, certainly The Dolphins can. Slap to the face regardless if we’re tenants or not.

The hardest thing to do in sports is win. Talent does not “automatically” equal wins. I advised many to watch The Redeem Team Doc so u can see how despite the absurd amount of talent USA b-ball had in 2004 & 2006, they were the first teams to win Bronze medals w/ NBA players b/c they had zero team chemistry & guys were more concerned playing hero ball than team ball. Coach K was the coach of that 2006 team & he said the culture was off & he was embarrassed of the efforts that squad gave. 2008 became a different team b/c Kobe came on & got in everyone’s *** to change the temperature.

My friends, I assumed we would win 8-9 games this yr, but it’s become clear between the current personnel on roster, a lingering stench of 18 yrs of mediocrity, along w/ trying to change a mindset that doesn’t mesh w/ what we have, we’re going to see more bad, & ugly vs. good regardless if we win these remaining games or not. There are clear blames all around
